TRANSFORMING LIVES TOGETHER | |
Dear Partners and Friends,
From helping women rebuild their livelihoods to equipping church leaders for peace and supporting families to access healthcare, ALARM continues to invest in people and stronger communities. This month's stories show what partnership makes possible: practical opportunities, renewed hope, and communities better equipped to build a more secure future.

Kenya: From Healing to Resilient Livelihoods
In Mathare, ALARM Kenya is helping vulnerable women move from trauma healing toward economic independence. Following business training on October 15-16, 25 women received $50 each to start or strengthen small businesses, while three enrolled in a three-month hairdressing and beauty course. The women also gained practical skills in pricing, marketing, record-keeping, and financial management.

An October review confirmed their progress in producing garments and knitted items.

Tanzania: Equipping Church Leaders for Peaceful Evangelism
More than 50 pastors, evangelists, and church leaders participated in ALARM Tanzania's September 20-25 training in Tanga on evangelism, discipleship, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding, equipping them to share their faith while fostering respectful relationships across religious differences.

Rwanda: Helping Women Rebuild After Crisis
When a fire struck Musanze Modern Market on October 10, seven women from an ALARM Rwanda women's group lost business goods and assets. With support from ALARM and partners such as Rise Up Women International, 28 women received food assistance, while affected traders received business restart support, including sewing machines, fabrics, mobile phones, and bag-making materials. The assistance is helping women resume their businesses and restore their ability to provide for their families. For women who lost their sources of income overnight, this support offers a vital step toward both economic and emotional recovery.

Rwanda: Empowering Rural Women, Strengthening Families
On October 15, ALARM Rwanda joined Rubavu District in marking International Day of Rural Women. The event recognized practical steps toward family stability and economic empowerment: 145 couples legalized their marriages, 30 vulnerable families received cows, one family received a house and household items, and two cooperatives of 20 women received start-up capital.
ALARM also continues to promote access to justice and peaceful conflict resolution through mediation and legal guidance for vulnerable women, children, and families.

Rwanda: Healthcare That Strengthens Communities
Cyimbili Health Centre treated 7,092 patients between July and September 2026, providing essential care to families facing a range of health challenges. Community outreach focused on malaria prevention, child nutrition, and timely access to treatment, and support from ALARM and CompassionNow enabled internet connectivity at a satellite health post and provided a laptop to strengthen service delivery.
However, shortages of medicines and the cost of health insurance continue to limit access for vulnerable families. Continued partnership can help sustain essential services and extend care, especially for maternal and child health.

North Texas: Practical Tools for Conflict Prevention, Resolution, and Reconciliation
On September 14, ALARM President and CEO Rev. Célestin Musekura, Ph.D., facilitated a Peace Summit in Wylie, Texas, hosted by the Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork. Participants explored conflict management, forgiveness, and reconciliation, using a Conflict Management Styles Assessment to better understand how people respond to conflict.
