The Community Development Block Grant program is an initiative led by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. It offers annual grants to support sustainable urban communities, particularly benefiting low and moderate-income individuals. The Town receives an annual grant of approximately $255,000.
In 2020, the Town of Castle Rock carefully considered community input, leading to the submission of a comprehensive five-year consolidated plan outlining the allocation of funds. The plan encompasses several essential initiatives, including enhancing Americans with Disabilities Act access to public facilities, improving public infrastructure for LMI residents and providing supportive services for seniors, LMI residents and individuals with special needs.
To date, CDBG funding has facilitated the construction of a new ADA-compliant restroom facility at Butterfield Crossing Park and over 2,200 home-delivered hot meals to LMI seniors, managed through the Castle Rock Senior Center.
