BuildSA Update

2017 is coming to close on a high note with the BuildSA project well under way!  The BuildSA Team is working diligently alongside the GCOM Team to ensure a successful Oct. 1, 2018 go-live date for Land Development. Most days you will find both teams in close proximity at the One Stop, for ease of communication, while making prompt and concerted decisions.

GCOM is the largest Accela Certified Partner and holds extensive experience in the implementation of business processes and systems. They are familiar with the Accela Software and have assisted other government entities  with successfully launching similar projects. We are excited about moving forward and working closely with our partner, GCOM.

The implementation schedule for BuildSA breaks down into a total of 14 sprints, each sprint lasts four weeks. Sprint 0 was the foundation sprint, primarily targeting project planning and arrangement of all resources needed to successfully begin work on the project. As shown in the sprint schedule below, Sprint 2, which ran from October 30 to November 24 is successfully completed.

We are now solidly in Sprint 3, which started Nov. 27 and ends on Dec. 22. During the next eight (8) sprints, GCOM's focus is on updating the configuration of Land Development applications. GCOM conducts a product demonstration of the enhanced configuration for the City's review at the end of each sprint.

As we make progress toward a successful implementation of BuildSA, our Organizational Change Management (OCM) Team continues to prepare for roadshows, DSD Staff and Citizen End-user training sessions.  The Training sessions and roadshows are scheduled to begin the summer of 2018.

Mobile Living Parks

On Dec. 14, 2017, an ordinance was passed by City Council in an effort to improve the overall health and safety of residents living in mobile home parks. Changes to the City Code, Chapter 18 provisions, include dedicated staff to conduct proactive park inspections to ensure they are in compliance with the City's Property Maintenance Code.  More information will be shared in the January 2018 Development Insight Newsletter.
DSD Holiday Schedule
The Development Services Department and the Fire Marshal's office will be closed Dec. 25, 2017 through Jan. 1, 2018 in observance of the City Winter Holiday.  The office will re-open on Jan. 2, 2018, with the regular schedule of 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Note:  Online scheduling for inspections will not be available during the Winter Holiday Break.
