Parking at DSD just got easier!

The Development Services Department (DSD) is happy to announce the new parking lot at 1902 S. Alamo is now complete. With that, customers should have an easier time parking at the One Stop.

The new parking lot, across the street from the main office, has about 90 new spots reserved for employee's only.  During the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, DSD employees will park in their designated spots. The parking lot will be open for public use after hours and on city holidays, free of charge.

At DSD, it is our intention to always have parking for our customers. Please understand there may be times that parking may be a challenge. Typically this happens when a high profile case is being heard at a commission or board meeting like the Zoning or Planning Commission or Building Standards Board. If parking is hard to find, the department asks for your patience as a parking spot will open soon.

Kimberly Hopkins Photography Displayed @ City Exhibit
Kimberly and Mayor Taylor at the Exhibit Opening.

Congratulations to Kimberly Hopkins, Development Services Planner, Land Development, on her work displayed at the 'United We Are One' Exhibit, presented by the City of San Antonio's Department of Arts & Culture.

The exhibit celebrates how San Antonians have come together in the name of equality through three of the city's largest marches - the Martin Luther King, Jr. March, the Cesar Chavez March, and the International Women's Day March.

"My photography work explores the vision of everyday life. Life is a journey, why not capture the moment and have it for a life time," said Kimberly. "Throughout my photography journey, I have created various styles of images from self-portraits, nature, wildlife, and street photography. Each style gives a different outlook on life and a different emotion."

The "United We Are One" exhibit features 121 individual artworks by San Antonio artists, and is curated in part by Xavier Gilmore with the San Antonio Ethnic Arts Society and Sarah Castillo of Lady Base Gallery.

Kimberly said, "as my photography continues to grow, I rely on my conscious and subconscious to invent and transfer those thoughts into images."

The exhibit, which opened on Jan. 19, will run through March 31, 2017 and is free and open to the public at the Plaza de Armas Gallery, 115 Plaza de Armas, in downtown. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jacob Sanchez, Assistant City Arborist, Tree, Landscape & Irrigation, Plan Review
I met with Jacob Sanchez before Christmas and he was very helpful and answered all my questions.

Tyrone Farias, Combination Building Inspector, Field Services
Tyrone Farias was my frame inspector and I just wanted to let you know how pleasant it was to work with him. He was patient, knowledgeable, and very professional. He walked me through every step of the inspection and educated me on new requirements per city code. I worked with a lot of inspectors and Tyrone's work ethic stands out and should be recognized. Excellent service is a rarity these days so I thought I'd write a quick note to let you know. Keep up the great work!

Andre Hollins, Maintenance Crew Leader, Graffiti, Field Services
We found Mr. Hollins to be very courteous, knowledgeable and diligent. He wasted no time in removing the graffiti from our brick wall.

Kimberly Hopkins, Planner, Land Entitlements, Land Development
Kimberly was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Adrian Goetz, Tree and Landscape Inspector, Land Development
Ms. Goetz explained to me the details of the inspection, and provided resources to pass the inspection. Adriana is a great person and hard worker.  She contributes to making San Antonio better.
