BuildSA Land Development Starts Oct. 1
The Development Services Department (DSD) – Land Development Division has made great progress in the data migration to BuildSA, our new online system. We are excited about this electronic new ‘way of doing business’ at DSD and can’t wait until you have the opportunity to try it out for yourself beginning Oct. 1.

This new solution enables both customers and staff to more effectively track and manage Land Development processes and provide transparency of business transactions, while maximizing communication and minimizing paper.

Additional services that you may benefit from include:

  • Ability to apply for applications on-line
  • Real-time access to the status of applications
  • Ability to make payments online using credit card or bank account
  • Search for application information using a parcel, address or contact
  • Electronic Document submittal
  • 24/7 Access

On Oct. 1, the Citizen Access Portal will be accessible on the Development Services website.   Look for the Online Services-Quick Links located on the right side of the page for easy access. Please note the link will not be on the website until the morning of Oct. 1.
Training and Resources
On Sept. 28, we will host a BuildSA Land Development Application submittal training; the training is scheduled for 10 – 11:30 a.m. and is limited to 120 participants. In addition, we will hold an Open House the first week of October from 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for anyone who needs assistance, and again on Oct. 8 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. All sessions are available on a first come, first served basis, and will take place at the One Stop office.

The BuildSA Online Training Resource Center is now available, and includes materials such as the User Guide, training modules and 'how-to' videos.

For additional assistance, our dedicated BuildSA Call Center will be available starting Oct. 1, during business hours, to answer application and processing questions. Call us at 210.207.1111, option 5.
NOTE:  Both LDS and TPLT are now frozen and no longer accepting Plats, MDPs, PUDs, and RD applications in the systems. This is a necessary function that must take place to complete the migration to BuildSA. During this time, we will accept hard copy applications over the counter through Friday. Development Services Staff will enter any held applications into BuildSA on Sunday, Sept. 30. These pre-launch activities will help ensure a smooth transition when we go live on Monday, Oct. 1.
FY 2019 City Budget Approved
On Sept. 13, 2018, City Council adopted the FY 2019 City of San Antonio Budget. The new budget will be effective on Oct. 1.
The Development Services Department will benefit from the FY 2019 budget by adding eight new positions as follows: (2) Senior Plans Examiners and (1) Combo Inspector from the Enterprise Fund, and five (5) new Code Enforcement Officers from the General Fund. Like last year, there will be no increased fees , and a continued focus on BuildSA – specifically phase 2 for plan review, permitting, inspections, and Code Enforcement. Additionally, there are  no reductions to the General Fund or Development Services Fund. This is good news for the department as we have a lot of work to do, and soon we will have added resources to help support DSD’s mission.
