You are invited to attend a three-part training session covering the basics of affordable housing, effective strategies for non-profit service providers to partner on tax-credit financed supportive housig, and a primer on choosing members of your developmental team.

Session 1: Affordable Housing 101

This session will provide a basic overview of affordable housing terminology, concepts, and common funding sources.

Session 2: Strategies for Non-Profits to Participate in Tax-Credit Financed Supportive Housing Developments
Presented by: Josh Gewolb & Monica McCullough
This session will explore opportunities for non-profit service providers to participate in tax-credit financed affordable, supportive, and mixed-income rental housing. We will discuss how non-profits can effectively collaborate with developers and consultants, manage development risk, understand legal implications and evaluate business terms of joint venture arrangements.

Session 3: Getting Started: Choosing Your Development Team
Presented by: Anthony DiTucci & Whit Youngstrom, Josh Gewolb, Monica McCullough, and Vanessa Villeneuve
This session will focus on assembling a project development team, including how to evaluate partners and when to engage them. Considerations when choosing an architect, contractor, attorney, and development consultant will be discussed, from the perspective of each discipline. The session will also address practical tips on managing project costs during the early project concept development phase.   
About the Training
This conference is targeted to not-for-profits who have no or limited experience in the development of tax-credit financed affordable and supportive housing.

Sessions will be most relevant to executive staff or board members directly involved in decision making regarding potential new supportive housing initiatives.
