Empowering families to advocate for themselves so that children with special educational needs can reach their full potential in education and life - through support, training, and education.
President Ronald Reagan Designated March as:
"National Developmental Disabilities Awareness" Month

In 1987, President Ronald Reagan made a public proclamation that the month of March should be recognized as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. He stated "I invite all individuals, agencies, and organizations concerned with the problem of developmental disabilities to observe this month with appropriate observances and activities directed toward increasing public awareness of the needs and the potential of Americans with developmental disabilities."
