ShowPlus Dressage at Devon 2021
Breed Show Opens
 
September 29, 2021 (Devon, PA)- Dressage at Devon opened today to sunny skies and, despite having to make up a few classes that were rained out on Tuesday, things went on as planned.
 
Tuesday It was the start of the largest open breed show in the world, featuring the future stars of dressage.
 
A Familiar Face
Maureen “Mo”Swanson of Rolling Stone Farm (Slatington, PA) is a familiar face at the Breed Show at Dressage at Devon.
Mo is a judge for the Oldenburg Horse Breeder’s Society (GOV) on its yearly inspection tours. She makes numerous tours to Germany and has extensive contacts and friens there. She is on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Association (MAHB), a successful regional breed club, and she is one of their founding members. She originated and has helped to organize their annual Fall Mare Show. The year she has a number of entries belonging to her as well as her clients.
 
EM Fherrari (Foundation/Rheporter by Royal Prince) took the blue in the Oldenburg GOV class on Day 1. Her dam, Rheporter was Grand Champion at Dressage at Devon in 2011 and it looks like her progeny may be following in her footsteps. On Wednesday, EM Fherrari won the Filly Championship and the Young Horse Championship and was the Reserve Champion in the Dressage at Devon Grand Championship.
“My feet hurt,” said Mo but with a big smile on her face. “I’m so excited to have done so well with a fourth generation of my breeding program.”
 
Individual Breed Classes (IBC)
There is versatility in dressage – it’s about the training, not the breed and Devon is very proud to host the largest open breed show in the world. This year’s list included Appaloosas and Lusitanos, Oldenburgs, Highland Ponies, Morgans and KWPNs. All were great examples of their respective breeds.

Pony Champion – Branley Ash Nautilus (FS Numero Uno/Ularinka) owned by Samantha Kidd and bred by Christine Baker
Filly Champion – Fherrari (Foundation/Rheporter by Royal Prince) bred by Maureen Swanson
Colt Champion -Biltmore (Bernay/Hillary by Harvard) bred by Paul Thesis and owned by Benjamin Albright
Young Horse Champion – Fherrari (Foundation/Rheporter by Royal Prince, bred by Maureen Swanson)
 
The Grand Champion of Dressage at Devon is a very special honor that this year went to ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Fortunato H2o, who traveled across the country from California to compete at the show. Fortunato H2O (pictured below) is a 2016 Licensed Oldenburg stallion owned by Lehua Custer. By Floriscount and out of the Elite Rascalino/ Warkant/ Argentan mare EM Raleska, “Tuna” was bred by Kendra Hansis at Runningwater Warmbloods. 
Sariah Hopkins, CEO of ShowPlus, the title sponsor of this year’s show had this to say “The young horses competing in the breed championship are the future stars of Dressage. Thursday will feature more young horses and the beginning of the ShowPlus Dressage at Devon Performance Division.
