January 2020, ISSUE 135
Dear DiabetesSister,

Happy new year! As we embark on this new year and decade, I send you my warmest wishes for a healthy and exciting 2020.

What are your goals for this new year? Are you ready to take it on? This month's newsletter reminds us of DiabetesSisters' mission and core values, as well as providing us resources to plan and be ready for anything. Take a read!

In Sisterhood,

26 Triumphant (NOT Perfect!) Years THRIVING with Diabetes
2019 was a busy year for DiabetesSisters. We adopted an organization-wide #LanguageMatters policy, expanded our PODS Meetup program, hosted our 5th Annual Leadership Institute, grew our Minority Initiative Program, launched our Between the Lines page, and more.

DiabetesSisters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life of women with diabetes and to advocate on their behalf. We believe all women with diabetes should have access to a healthy support system that includes peers with diabetes.

"Diabetes is a serious disease, but it is not holding me back.
I still dance."

Read Tomiko's story of managing her blood sugar levels while singing, dancing, and performing in this month's Between the Lines highlight.

As we welcome the new year, we are getting Ready for Anything. Our Experts will help you prep, plan, and focus!

“Don’t be a lady, BE A LEGEND.” Shelby saw these words during the first event of our Leadership Institute conference, and they resonated with her throughout the weekend. Read her PODS Leader Reflections to learn why.

What are the top things that women with diabetes need to know about cardiovascular disease? Our Heart Health brochure has the answers. It is available for download, in both Spanish and English, from our Library.
