In Conversation with Myriam Denov, Impact Award Gold Medal winner

Join us on February 25 at 1:00 p.m. (eastern) for a live conversation with Myriam Denov, the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Youth, Gender and Armed Conflict at McGill University and SSHRC’s 2025 Impact Award Gold Medal winner. Denov has worked with war-affected children in Asia, Africa and the Americas for the last 25 years. New national research partnership on improving Canada’s productivity receives inaugural grant

SSHRC is investing $6 million over 15 years to support a novel national research partnership that will drive solutions to boost Canada’s productivity over the coming years. The multi-stakeholder partnership is led by the University of Calgary and will leverage long-term, high-impact research in the social sciences and humanities to develop and enact transformative economic policy.

The Panel on Responsible Conduct of Research has released proposed updates to the Tri Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (2021) and is inviting feedback from the research community. Review the proposed changes and share your comments by April 17, 2026.

Global Affairs Canada launches the 2026 International Policy Ideas Challenge in partnership with SSHRC

The ninth edition of the International Policy Ideas Challenge, launched in January 2026, encourages applicants to identify concrete, innovative solutions to emerging international policy challenges faced by Canada, and to translate academic expertise into policy language and insights. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2026.

Many of SSHRC’s funding opportunities require applicants to upload a Tri-agency CV. Check out our instructions page to ensure your document is formatted properly. You can also verify that you’ve applied all technical specifications to your CV, and that your personal statement, most significant contributions and experiences, and supervisory and mentorship activities sections include the right information.

Redefining what success looks like for Black youth in Canada

Bukola Salami—Canada Research Chair in Black and Racialized Peoples’ Health at the University of Calgary—wants to inspire Black children and youth in Canada to meet their potential. Through her five-year project, funded by a $2.5 million SSHRC Partnership Grant, Salami is training the next generation of Black scholars to be equipped to address inequities in their communities.

Engendering success in STEM

Thanks to a seven year, $2.5 million dollar SSHRC Partnership Grant, a University of British Columbia researcher and her team are doing a deep dive into the underrepresentation of women in STEM. Toni Schmader, former Canada Research Chair in Social Psychology, is hoping to pinpoint when stereotypes about gender and science first emerge in childhood.
