Dialogue with the Dean - Feb. 12th

Bishop Franklin will be our guest at the "Dialogue with the Dean" on Sunday, February 12th at 9:15 am.

You are encouraged to ask Bishop Franklin any questions you may desire about any and all manner of things related to the current and future life at St. Paul's Cathedral.

Also, please attend the special 1817 themed reception immediately following the 10:15 service based on the 1789 prayer book.
Solidarity March this Sunday

Buffalo will not tolerate propaganda-fueled hatred, discrimination, and violations of people's rights.
On  Sunday, February 5th at 1:00pm , join VOICE Buffalo at Elmwood and Bidwell as we march in solidarity with refugees and immigrants across the country who are now facing persecution.

This doesn't end with a march, either; direct action must be taken to make a difference. Following the march, we will gather at a rally location (to be determined) to discuss Trump's actions, how they impact our city, and what we can do to combat them.

VOICE Buffalo will update the Facebook event page  here as soon as the rally location is confirmed.
Coffee & Conversation

Please join us downstairs in the Walker room after the  10:15  service for coffee, treats, and conversation!

Sundays in the Walker Room
What's in a Name?

We need a name for the new apartments being developed for the St. Paul's Parish House located at 128 Pearl Street across the street from the cathedral. The 128 Pearl Street Managing Member LLC created by the Vestry of St. Paul's to manage the development project recently made a presentation to the Standing Committee of The Episcopal Diocese of Western New York. Things will begin to move very quickly with applications to various city and state agencies once Standing Committee approval of the transfer of the property to the LLC is received.

A name identifying the building that will house seven (7) apartments as well as commercial space on the first floor is needed for the applications and marketing. Some suggestions already received include: Cathedral Commons, The Apartments at St. Paul's and Cathedral Apartments.

Do you have an idea? We'd love to hear from you if you do. Please forward suggestions to Teresa Carter, cathedral administrator,  teresa@spcbuffalo.org(716) 855-0900, Ext. 5.

The person(s) offering the winning name will be invited to participate in the ground-breaking and ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the project.

Voice Buffalo: Sustainers Breakfast

Dear Friends,
I am writing as a member of the Voice Buffalo Leadership Task Force for Immigrants and Refugees.

Recent events impel me to send out an urgent call for increased participation in the good work of immigrant outreach refugee resettlement.

I would like to invite you all, as committed members of St. Paul's faith community dedicated to the Matthew 25 mandate, to share a table with me at the annual Voice Buffalo Sustainers Breakfast.  The link below will explain further the focus of Voice Buffalo's work.
http://www.voice-buffalo.org/events

May I just add that, if you are feeling the need right now to respond to the Muslim Ban with force, this may provide an opportunity to participate in an organized response.

Please feel free to forward this invitation to anyone you think may be interested.

If you RSVP back to me by Feb. 5th, I can then register us as a group. If you prefer, feel free to register directly.

Onward in the spirit of Matthew 25,
Dee Doherty

Episcopal Peace Fellowship

The Very Rev. W. (Will) H. Mebane, Jr., Interim Dean of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, has been elected to the Episcopal Peace Fellowship National Executive Council. "The Episcopal Peace Fellowship (EPF) is a national organization connecting all who seek a deliberate response to injustice and violence and want to pray, study and take action for justice and peace in our communities, our church, and the world. We are called to do justice, dismantle violence, and strive to be peacemakers," according to it's website epfnational.org

Dean Will's first activity as a member of the executive council will be to participate in a Eucharist and Prayer Vigil of Peace and Reconciliation the day before the consecration of his colleague and friend, The Rev. Carl Wright, who was elected on September 20, 2016 to be the Episcopal Church's Bishop Suffragan for Armed Services and Federal Ministries. Bishop Elect Wright's consecration will take place at the Washington National Cathedral (WNC) on February 11, at noon, EST and Dean Will is scheduled to be in attendance.

The Episcopal Peace Fellowship will continue the tradition of joining with the Office of Federal Ministries to hold a pre-ordination Eucharist at noon on Friday, February 10. EPF is organizing a vigil for peace in the War Memorial Chapel of WNC beginning immediately after the service and continuing until the beginning of the consecration service on the 11th.

"It is because of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship that I found my way to the Episcopal Church and I am grateful for this opportunity to now be of service," said Dean Will in accepting his nomination to the EPF executive council.

Search Committee
The new SPC "Search Committee" has been announced at last Sunday's Annual Meeting.

The  Search Committee  is a creation of the vestry and works for and on behalf of the vestry. The wardens, with the advice and formal consent of the entire vestry, appoint members to the search committee. It is important to keep in mind that in accordance with the Canons of the Church, only the vestry can issue a call and then only with the approval of the Bishop.
