FREE COVID-19 Testing Sites
Thinking about getting tested for COVID-19? We’re partnering with the San Diego County COVID-19 Equity Task Force, County of San Diego and Multicultural Health Foundation to encourage getting FREE COVID-19 testing in Southeastern San Diego. Whether you may or may not be showing symptoms, consider getting tested.

New SD Unified Meal Pick Up Locations & Schedule
Beginning Monday, August 31 San Diego Unified School District will open 82 school locations, including in Southeastern San Diego, for students to pick up their breakfast and lunch. Students and parents/guardians can drive-thru or walk-up to their designated meal pick-up site to receive breakfast and lunch. This service will be available Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
San Diego Voice & Viewpoint is Hiring!
The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint, San Diego's largest African American publication, is seeking a part-time newspaper office assistant. The ideal candidate is a hard-working, self sufficient and reliable team player who is dedicated to producing high quality work. Those interested must be proficient in basic InDesign, Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Customer service experience is a plus!
FREE Positive Parenting Classes by Jewish Family Service
Jewish Family Service of San Diego has implemented the Positive Parenting Program, which will assist parents and caretakers of all faiths and backgrounds to find positive solutions for managing common childhood behavior issues.

Positive Parenting Program Live Webinar Series - FREE

A free 3-part online series in which you will join other parents while covering topics to help your child become a better listener, cooperator and problem solver. This new online program, offered in both English and Spanish, uses strategies backed by over 35 years of scientific research presented by experienced parent educators. New sessions begin on September 8.

KIPP Adelante Enrolling for
2021-2022 School Year
KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy (Knowledge is Power Program), a tuition-free school for grades 5th-8th, is opening enrollment for the 2021-22 school year on Friday, Sept. 28, 2020.

During this time of distance learning, KIPP Adelante is focusing on relationships with students and access to technology needs. All students are loaned a Google Chromebook, and families without internet access are provided wireless hotspots. The school has a live schedule every day for students to connect with their teachers, and P.E. three times a week. Families of KIPP students can pick up meals from the school every Tuesday and Thursday between 12 and 2 p.m.

Why is the 2020 Census important? Learn this and more by joining us on Facebook Live on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.! Hear from the US Census Bureau, along with the Jacobs Center's Christie Marcella and Black American Political Association of California, San Diego's Dhalia Balmir about how participation in the Census affects the community and helps determine the community's future.

Take 10 minutes to answer a short questionnaire that will impact the next 10 years. The official count ends on September 30, 2020.

CONNECT ALL @ the Jacobs Center, a FREE startup business accelerator program, is now accepting applications for its next group of entrepreneurs! As the region’s only business accelerator program focused on low to moderate income and diverse founders in the San Diego region, CAJC strives to connect entrepreneurs to resources that encourage existing business growth. During this 4-month program, CAJC will provide free trainings, mentorship and other vital resources. Application deadline is Sunday, October 18 at 11:59 p.m.
