Diana's Italy Writing Journey

(a brief farewell)

read-poetry-600x400.jpg

Dear Loyal Blog Readers and Friends,

I've pushed the pause button on writing my Trauma Talk Blog to take time throughout this spring and summer to travel and dive deep into writing more chapters for my memoir and discover new insights and healing from writing my poetry.

I have worked non-stop as an entrepreneur, owned and operated three small companies, and have been a mental health educator and coach for decades. My time was filled with product development and distribution, brand management, teaching, speaking, and creating and facilitating valuable events and programs. Every part of this has brought me great joy and fulfillment in my own life and helping and teaching/training others.

In essence, I am now taking myself on a writing and traveling sabbatical!

Northern Michigan

I will spend much of my time in lovely Northern Michigan (where I now live) during one of the year's best seasons.

I intend to take this time of looking inward to understand myself better and connect with nature and others as I explore and find quiet places to write.

Looking inward is discovering and reviewing where we have been, what we've done, and our values and preferences that provide renewed clarity and intentional movement.

And for the first time, I will attend some of the annual festivals and enjoy the delicious food, talented artists, and music concerts that pour into this area every summer.

Doglio, Italy

I am particularly excited about my trip in mid-June, where I will embark on my European journey to Umbria, Italy, and join like-minded writers, healers, and spiritually oriented people at my writing teacher's exclusive retreat.

I began studying with Mark Matousek at the beginning of the pandemic.

His methods and guidance are transformational and have exponentially aided my healing and writing.

About:

Mark is a bestselling author, teacher, and speaker whose work focuses on personal awakening and creative excellence through transformational writing and self-inquiry.

He brings over three decades of experience as a memoirist, editor, interviewer, survivor, and spiritual seeker to his clever and thought-provoking work with students. His workshops, classes, and mentoring have inspired thousands of people worldwide to reach their artistic and spiritual goals.

Mark is known for his transformational teaching. He has helped countless people worldwide reach their creative and spiritual potential using his powerful Writing to Awaken Method.

His compassionate, provocative style creates a welcoming atmosphere for this profoundly personal, soul-stirring work, which rests on the insight that:

"When you tell the truth, your story changes.

When your story changes, your life is transformed."

Fattoria di Vibio (Retreat Location)

At the end of a cypress-lined avenue running through the woods, the “courtyard” of the Umbrian hills opens up to

the picture-postcard perfect setting of Fattoria di Vibio.

Rome, Italy

Lastly, I will have a quick one-day trip to Rome before my daughter arrives.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Then, we will travel by train to the coast, visiting Praiano, Positano, Capri, and the breathtaking Amalfi Coastline for a much-needed break filled with fun, connection, and rest.

Our Mother/Daughter's first-ever Italian adventure before she begins her summer of performing at the Salzburg Music Festival in Austria.

I wish you all a wonderful spring and summer!

As always, thanks for reading! Kindly, Diana
