Dianne Nance: In Memorium
Dianne Nance one of the founding members of GCWS, passed away on September 24th, 2022. Dianne served as President of GCWS and went on to serve as president of Florida Watercolor Society. Dedicated to the arts and teaching, Dianne was a sought-after instructor because of her ability to help artists go to the next level in their art. She taught classes in her home for over 30 years, with critiques that inevitably came down to “ what are you selling” and “courage looks good”.

Art Writer for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Roger Hurlburt said about Dianne in 1991. “It's been nearly a decade since I first wrote about one of my favorite Fort Lauderdale artists. Inexcusable.

Whether imparting a sultry passage of transparent colors to paper or laying down a crystalline block of more opaque hues, Nance nimbly performs. Few painters I've encountered handle the unforgiving medium of watercolor any better.”
Many of us are more familiar with Dianne’s later award-winning Abstracts, but her first love was always transparent watercolors. She was a Signature member of National Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society and Gold Coast Watercolor Society.
She was a former faculty member of Florida Atlantic University and Broward Community College.

Because of her love of GCWS and the medium it only seems fitting that we offer awards in her name.
