January 22-24 - Semester Examinations - Important Info below

Semester Examinations


As shared last summer, our semester examinations will be on January 22-24. On the 22nd, the exams will take place during the school day and the 23rd and 24th will be half days with dismissal at 11:10am. The exact schedules will be shared soon.


All parents should be sure that their students are present for these examinations. Students will only be excused for the examinations for medical, legal, or religious reasons that must be documented and approved. Please do not request to miss these days unless the above criteria is met. This also applies to our final exams in June. HERE are several examples of how this criteria was previously shared with families.

Commencement Information for this Year


Senior Families! See the chart below regarding Commencement for this year! As you can see, seniors will graduate at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 13th. The rehearsal date is Wednesday, June 12th at 11:30 AM and the rehearsal is mandatory in order to walk the next day. MUCH more information will be shared later in the school year.

Important Reminder! The Winter Keystone Exams are January 8-10. 


Monday, January 8 – Algebra Exam

Tuesday, January 9 – Literature Exam

Wednesday, January 10 – Biology Exam


  • Students who are scheduled to test were given notification letters by their Homeroom teachers the week of October 31.


  • Students can ask any staff member for their assigned testing room.


  • If your child is testing, please help ensure that they arrive on time for school so they can begin their exam immediately after Homeroom. 


  • Also, please note that students can use a calculator for the Algebra Keystone Exam, but no student may have a cell phone, smartwatch, headphones, earbuds, or any other electronic devices or equipment while they take any of the Keystone Exams. 



Pittsburgh Promise News


The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an application that prospective college students (seniors) should fill out to determine how much student aid they can be provided for post-secondary institutions. The U.S. Department of Education has announced the 2024-2025 FAFSA will be available by December 31, 2023. Before, students fill out the FAFSA, be sure to the set up a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) at StudentAid.gov/fsa-id.

CCS After School Programming Update


Families who have a current student that is owed Covid Comprehensive Services hours recently received THIS LETTER so that we are aware if they plan to have their child participate in our upcoming after school programming. However, after connecting with families, we have changed our plans to have this programming for 2 hours per day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Please reach out to Ms. Ferraro at aferraro1@pghschools.org if you have not already connected with her and you have interest in this.

Wrestling


Allderdice wrestling is off to a great start this season! We won our home opener against Brashear 48-30. This week was Senior Night against Obama and we won 41-30. Javen Woods, Zach Schmitt, Marcus Wahila and Jhamier Rainey all recorded PINS against Obama, leading Allderdice to a 2-0 record in the city league.
