Did You Know…?

Deedee,

Did you know …that even with Kenya in a state of unrest this month...

...the next generation is being used by God to bring about peace in the hearts of many students? Bishop Okullu Magare Girls Secondary School is located in Kenya on the east side of Lake Victoria. This month, Isaac Okoth (ROYS Regional Leader) sent two students to this school to share their testimonies and present the gospel. As a result, 53 students accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord! Now, these new believers are starting down the road of discipleship, with Isaac putting into place disciplers for these girls! Will you pray for these new disciples, the ones who are discipling them, and for Pastor Isaac as he continues to raise up youth leaders who are bold in their faith and testimony?

Did you know…that the instruments used in student worship in South Asia may look a little different than what your typical youth worship experience in the US looks like? Here's a photo of a recent youth worship experience. (The instrument being played is a harmonium.)Three of these boys gave their lives to Christ last week! Will you pray for these students who are beginning their journey as brand new followers of Jesus?

Did you know…that there are over 200 million people under the age of 18 in West Africa? JFYM is already being used to train youth leaders in Niger, Liberia, and Nigeria. Will you join us in praying for financial partnerships that will provide the necessary funding to step into open doors that we currently have into Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, and Togo?

Did you know…that many of the youth pastors in Cuba trained by Reach Out are focusing this year on what God says about sexuality? Dai, a Reach Out Eagle Leader, hosted a youth meeting in Las Tunas where over 150 teenagers were in attendance. The topics of the night included teenage pregnancy and abortion. The gospel was presented, as well.

And, in a week, Jose Carlos and his team of youth leaders are putting on a youth camp with the theme focused on seeing our sexuality the way God sees it…including small group and breakout sessions discussing dating, pornography, and gender identity. It is encouraging to see these youth leaders who are willing to approach such timely and vitally important subjects! Will you take a moment to pray for Jose Carlos and his team as they make final preparations for this camp?

Did you know…that in Mozambique there are more than 40 languages spoken and that 45% of its population is under the age of 15?!? A recent quote by UNICEF underscores the importance of supporting the local churches and youth leaders there:

“Mozambique has some of the world’s worst social indicators on children and adolescents, particularly girls…”

The great news is that Pastor Iwell continues to faithfully lead the JFYM movement in that country. Last month, 320 new believers were baptized, four new churches were planted, and 280 leaders were trained! Please pray for our leadership in Mozambique, as the harvest of righteousness continues to unfold there.

And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

James 3:18

Did you know…that YOU are an integral part of each one of these stories? Thank you for praying, and giving, and sharing about this ministry to your friends and family!

Blessings!
