Did you know that laptops hit the English market well before the latter half of the 20th Century?
Back before computers stored information and allowed us to write and store documents while commuting to work, this early laptop provided ample storage space and a sloped leather surface on which to apply pen to paper. Outfitted with a pen tray, inkwell and tiny stamp or change drawers, this desk was the portable office of its day. However, armed with no processing power and 0MB RAM, it relied solely on the knowledge and input of its possessor, and its contacts list was probably hand written in a small notebook filed in one of the caches beneath the folding leather tablet.
This fine antique English lap desk with handsome brass straps and corner mounts sits on a custom made stand and is just one of many such fine accent pieces we have at Mill House.
