The Steep Canyon Rangers LOVE the Blue Ridge Parkway

What do the Steep Canyon Rangers and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation have in common? We are working together to protect and improve Graveyard Fields!

The Steep Canyon Rangers, who won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album last year for Nobody Knows You, and whose new album, Tell the Ones I Love, is now No. 8 and rising on the Billboard sales list, will perform at UNC Asheville's Kimmel arena on Thursday April 10th at 8pm.

Foundation staff will be there to highlight our project starting this spring at Graveyard Fields. Protecting the Parkway can be fun. We hope to see you there! Special VIP tickets are available for purchase and include a pre-concert reception beginning
at 6pm with the Rangers and floor seats for the concert. All tickets can be purchased by either calling 828-258-7900 or going to

Hope to see you at the show! Be sure to stop by our table and say hello.

Foundation News

We've said it before and we'll say it again...our partners make our work to protect the Blue Ridge Parkway possible, all while providing a great place to stay, a fabulous meal to eat, a wonderful product to purchase or a great event to attend. Here are the highlights of our upcoming community partnerships that will benefit the Parkway!

April 10th, 8pm:
Steep Canyon Rangers, performing at UNC-Asheville
Arts Fest
The Steep Canyon Rangers have a song called Graveyard Fields...and later this Spring they will partner with the Foundation to help us bring awareness to our Graveyard Fields project. We'll be at there - stop by to see us!

April 12, 8:30am:
Chetola Resort's Corkscrew 5k
Chetola's Corkscrew 5K, in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Wine & Food Festival and Zap Fitness, combines road racing and wine (or, if you prefer, walking and wine). This event, now in its 2nd year, benefits the Foundation.

We are gearing up for the 3rd Annual Plates for the Parkway - June 16-19. This year we hope to recruit 100 restaurants, food trucks, breweries, coffeehouses and more to help us protect the Parkway. Do you know a restaurant who loves the Parkway and could help? Contact Christy Bell at 866-308-2773 x177 or visit to learn more.

What do a 52" saw blade, a 400-500 year old fallen tree and the Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Department have in common? They are all key parts of the story behind the project we've funded at Mabry Mill.

Board secretary Jack Betts, who lives by the Mill and just happens to be a member of the North Carolina Journalism Hall of Fame (among other accomplishments!), is chronicling the fascinating story of this project on his blog. Several chapters have already been them, beginning with Chapter 1, here!

Love the Mill?  We still need support to finish funding this project.
