Did you know that ANTS , supposedly the non stinging, good for the environment variety, don't care if you have slathered yourself with insect repellent ?
I definitely have learned the stinging (hard) way. While digging up and discarding the bedraggled spring pansies in a rather large planter, my trowel struck a hidden ant bed with worker ants, larva and queen. For some reason the queen did not like the intrusion and did not appreciate my attempt to make the planter more summer friendly and colorful. Instead she and her workers took great offensive and proceeded to administer retribution! How dare they! Thank goodness for lots of antihistamine creams to sooth the itch and blisters resulting from the onslaught. Gardening can be very rewarding, but not this time.
Ants do have their place in our world. Check out this website for learning more about the ecological benefits of ants. ps: photo is NOT my hand!

ROY--MY Tool Man
I don't want to take away Tim Allen's thunder as the Tool Man, but Roy sure is giving him a challenge. Most of you know that The Ridgeway Team has been mired in an extensive renovation changing a Sugar Shack into a Southern Living home complete with a front porch to watch the neighbors walk by and barges chug along the intracoastal. We are about 90% complete. The original weathered cypress siding was not in condition to remain and was replaced with cement board. Now he is planing the salvaged siding planks and will use the planks for hardwood flooring in our great room. Stand by.......
