Teaching Self-Care Skills

Did you know that good self-care skills correlate with improved education, employment, and independent living outcomes?

According to the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT), self-care/independent living skills are skills necessary for management of one's personal self-care and daily independent living, including the personal management skills needed to interact with others, daily living skills, financial management skills, and the self-management of healthcare/wellness needs.

Want to learn more about HOW to teach these vital skills?

NOW and ROW Waivers Cover Incontinence Products

The NOW and ROW waivers are now covering incontinence products! In order to receive diapers as part of one of these two waivers, the waiver recipient's current 90-L form has to say that the person needs assistance with incontinence/bowel/bladder, or the doctor will need to complete another form or write a letter in order to get it covered.

There are three companies that are currently supplying diapers for LA waiver recipients. You can contact them for samples to be sent to you.

Creating a diverse and inclusive world for people with disabilities requires that we recognize events and organizations that help bring acceptance and awareness to the wide variety of annual health, disability awareness, and inclusion campaigns. One of the biggest tools we have is the power of human connection. That's why awareness months, weeks, and days are so important: They rally us together to spread ACCEPTANCE, and awareness, and show support.

Many activities are going on. Check out what's happening and how you can participate in promoting acceptance and awareness.
