According to his sister, Joan, Bob struggled with mental illness for much of his life. When he died in 2020, he left a generous bequest to McLean without restrictions, meaning it will support the full breadth of the hospital's mission.

Dr. Thrassos Calligas has been at McLean for three decades, working with children with complex psychiatric and psychosocial disorders. He is also one of McLean's many sustaining donors, making monthly gifts to the hospital for years.
