TOMORROW: BLUEY WATCH PARTY!
By popular request from our students on the middle school mission trip, this week's summer youth group is a watch party for the hilarious and adorable Australian kids show sensation Bluey! We'll gather in the youth lounge 6-7:30 pm to watch the top 10 favorite episodes of the Wiggins household.
2022-2023 PREVIEW
Probably the most exciting thing we can preview is that after 2 years of splitting up grades into two different hours and skipping dinner, we will be back to having dinner followed by one Youth Group hour! Here's what our Sunday schedule will look like:
9:45 - 10:45 am

4:30 - 5:30 pm

5:30 - 6:00 pm

6:00 - 7:00 pm
Screen & Scripture (intergenerational Sunday school)

Youth Choir

Youth Dinner

Youth Group (all grades)
We will continue to run a pattern of content weeks (teaching and small groups) and connect weeks (focus on connection to God and each other) throughout the year. We'll always have games, but here are some of the unique things you might see on those different nights:
CONTENT TOPICS

Faith & Science (Oct-Nov)
Transformation (Fall Retreat)
Christmas (Nov-Dec)
Anxiety & Suicide (Jan)
Love God/Others/Life (Mar-Apr)
CONNECT ACTIVITIES

Mission/service opportunities
Mindfulness
Campfire stories
Guided prayer/meditation
Crafts
And then there's special events! We are anticipating a return to an overnight Fall Retreat and a 30 Hour Famine (a unique blend of lock-in, service, and fasting) in February with our friends at Davidson United Methodist. Scope out the not-quite-but-close-to-being-finalized calendar here.
Last but not least, Screen & Scripture will return as well, but with a tweaked focus: we will be picking a movie or TV show out there in the world, encouraging everyone to watch it, and then picking scenes to watch, discuss, and connect to scripture. Here's the line up of what we will be watching:
September: Assorted short films
October: Signs
November: The Village
December: Audience Choice - Christmas
January: Audience Choice - The 1960's
February: Audience Choice - The 1970's
March: Audience Choice - The 1980's
April: Audience choice - Marvel Cinematic Universe
May: Audience choice - Star Wars
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
YOUTH LEADERSHIP FOR G.I.F.T.
We are looking for youth who want to grow some leadership skills as they lead in various capacities at our intergenerational VBS event this summer. Hit reply and let Matt know if you are interested and we'll find the perfect way for you to lead. All of our families are also encouraged to register for GIFT by following this link.
RAMAH PRESBYTERIAN VBS
DCPC is helping Ramah Presbyterian lead a Vacation Bible School for the children of Huntington Green August 8-11 and we are looking for 8-10 volunteers to make it happen. If you are interested, please contact Robert Alexander.
If you are a parent or student who participated in DCPC Youth during the '21-'22 school year, would you take a few minutes to share your thoughts on DCPC Youth? It is a quick 5 question survey (with 5 bonus questions if you're up for it) to help us know how we did at helping you all connect to God and each other.
