Moving Day!

On Sunday, September 10 after worship we will be moving everything out of the Sanctuary, Office, and Sunday School so the asbestos in the floor can be abated. Your help moving boxes and other items would be greatly appreciated.

Let's celebrate together! Summer vacations are over and it's time to get back in the swing of coming to church! Join Dido as we gather for a great worship service as our choir leads us. Then head to the fellowship hall for a scrumptious lunch. Please bring a side dish or dessert!

It's Time to Prepare for

Dido's Annual Golf Tournament

September 30, Scramble at 8 am

At The Resort

Every year Dido UMC has a golf tournament in order to raise money for missions and help out our community and church. Here's how you can serve! --

• Gather items for silent auction gift baskets. Ask local restaurants, stores, or service providers for gift certificates or donations or donate some funds to help. Just ask Pastor Jana if you need the church's proof of being a nonprofit.
• Purchase a sign to be placed at a hole for your family or business for $100. - call Dawn Youngblood at 817 907-1364
• Put together silent auction gift baskets
• Sign up yourself or your team to play golf! - Call The Resort at 817 236-4300
• Be a Birdie Sponsor for $500 and receive advertising and 4 players in the tournament. - Call Dawn Youngblood at 817 907-1364,
• Help assemble Goodie Bags - Call Marianne Wiggins at 817 939-3422
• Make desserts! - Call Arlene Pearcy at 817 874-6717
• Help set up/take down on the day before and the day of.
• On the day of the tournament we will need many servants! Please let Tim Daughtrey (817 988-1420) know if you can help!

The initial Meeting for planning will be Thursday, August 17 at 4 pm at The Resort Clubhouse. Everyone is invited to participate!

Blessing of the Animals

October 8 During Worship

Bring your furry (or scaly or feathery) friends for a special service of thanking God for the precious pets and animals in our lives. Please make sure they are leashed or caged appropriately. Pastor Jana will go around the sanctuary to give each animal a special blessing.

Prepare to say, "Oh, I get it!" over and over again! Your mind will be blown, your heart will be warmed, and your eyes will be opened as you see the places where Jesus and his disciples walked, healed, and taught. Join Pastor Jana to experience the rich history, stunning archeological sites, the taste of hummus and baklava and other wonderful food, insightful discussions about the Bible, and meet the cultures and people of Israel. Visit Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Galilee, Cana, Nazareth, the Garden of Gethsemane, the River Jordan, the Mount of Olives, Jericho and many other sites. It will be a great adventure!

Church Renovation Update

The week of September 11 an abatement team will be removing all the asbestos in the church. We are planning for renovations to begin the week of the September18th. We will be worshiping in the Fellowship Hall until renovations in the Sanctuary, Sunday School, office, and bathrooms are being completed.

The pod in the parking lot houses the old pews until they are sold. The pews were removed due to water damage and for asbestos abatement. If you would like to purchase a pew please let Tim Daughtrey know. The current plan is to replace the old pews with new ones.

If you have any input about the renovations please let the renovation team know. The members of the team are:

Dawn Youngblood, Lisa Mellott, Time Daughtrey, Marianne Wiggins, and Dan Wallace

Get Involved with Feeding our Community! Serve Community Link!

We continually collect items just inside the entrance to the Fellowship Hall and in the entryway to the Sanctuary. Please drop your items off and we will take them each week. Thank you in advance for your help!

Here are some of the items needed:

• Canned Green Beans
• Canned Fruit
• Beans(canned and dry)
• Spaghetti sauce
• Ramen Noodle
• Canned tomatoes
• Cereal
• Canned vegetables
• Mac n cheese
• Plastic shopping bags

Community Link Food Pantry

Gather groceries for those in need. Pick your days and times. They are open for volunteers: M-Th 9 am-2 pm, F 9 am-12
