Alumna’s Mural Explores Hospitality and Belonging

Angelica Bonilla Fominaya (BCSA 2023) unveiled her artwork, commissioned by CMU’s Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics, as part of the Center for the Arts in Society’s Hospitality Initiative.

Coding for Animals Key to Engaging Children in STEM

Jessica Cantlon, the Ronald J. and Mary Ann Zdrojkowski Associate Professor of Developmental Neuroscience and Psychology at CMU, led a pilot study that merges children’s interest with animals with computer coding to teach computational thinking in elementary-age children.

Robert Kass, the Maurice Falk Professor of Statistics and Computational Neuroscience in the Department of Statistics & Data Science, has been elevated to the rank of University Professor, the highest distinction a faculty member can achieve at the university.

  • Join the Faculty Dialogue: From Dolphins to Humans – Translational Neuroscience - on June 5, researchers from CMU, New College of Florida and the University of St. Andrews will discuss how studies of dolphins not only satisfy our scientific curiosity, but inform how we think about and treat dysfunction of the human brain. The event will be virtual and begin at 4 p.m. Register to attend.
