Award-winning Workshop Teaches Tolerance and Acceptance
Second and fifth graders recently participated in Differences Day, a KLSD-SEPTO workshop that nurtures empathy through hands-on activities.

Students did puzzles while wearing gloves to evoke fine motor skills challenges, tried to carry a lunch tray while navigating in a wheelchair, and much more. This year, the students at Increase Miller Elementary School also had a chance to learn about visual impairment from an expert. MORE
Newly-Elected Student Council Considers the Issues of the Day
John Jay Middle School's newly-elected Student Council, led by teacher Laura Woelfel, is already displaying one of the hallmarks of successful leadership: respectful, back and forth conversation.

Topics at a recent meeting ranged from the challenges to getting to class on time to planting fruit trees. As the liaison between students and administrators, Student Council's role is to identify and propose solutions to issues encountered by students as well as plan activities.
"The Revenge of the Space Pandas" on December 13 & 14!
"Unique” is the word that comes up time and time again when the freshman cast and crew try to describe their hilarious upcoming show, "The Revenge of the Space Pandas" by David Mamet.

The Freshman Play, directed by seniors Katie Gebbia and Jonah Linz, is an exciting tradition that welcomes ninth graders into John Jay High School's theater community.
