Digging into alternative-fuel trends & growth drivers
Renewable fuel sources are becoming more and more critical to organizations’ sustainability plans. NTEA’s 2020 Fleet Purchasing Outlook showed an 11% gain from 2019 to 2020 for idle-management technology. PG&E creates tool for fleets to weigh costs of switching to EVs
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) created an online tool to help fleets considering transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) to go with the utility’s EV Fleet program, which helps fleet customers build the infrastructure needed to transition from diesel to battery-electric trucks.
Pushing to reach 100% zero-emission truck and bus sales by 2050
A new global push to reach 100% new zero-emission truck and bus sales by 2050 has been announced by a consortium of transportation and environmental groups. The new Global Memorandum of Understanding was unveiled by the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance in partnership with Calstart’s Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero program and campaign.
Volvo Trucks introduces VNR Electric to North American market
Volvo Trucks North America says its zero-tailpipe-emissions VNR Electric model is now commercially available in North America. The Volvo VNR Electric is designed for customer applications and driving cycles with local and regional distribution ranges. The 264 kWh lithium-ion batteries, which charge up to 80% within 70 minutes, have an operating range of up to 240 km based on the truck’s configuration.
XL Fleet launches new charging infrastructure solutions division
XL Fleet is initiating the launch of a new division of the company that will provide charging infrastructure, energy storage, and power solutions for electrified fleets. XL is launching its XL Grid division following a new partnership with a commercial electric vehicle supply equipment supplier, according to the company. XL Fleet customers can now purchase XL Grid charging systems separately or as part of an order for vehicles with the company’s electrified powertrain.
Lion offering ChargePoint EV charging
Lion Electric announced it will offer ChargePoint’s full line of commercial chargers and cloud services under a new reseller agreement, further expanding LionEnergy’s offering of charging hardware and software solutions.
