Dighton Public Library
December 2011
Greetings!

December is starting very busily here at the Library.  And already, we are trying to find ways to make our holiday chores easier - one way with a little help from Chef Jeff and slow cooking.  We are also making our own holiday greeting cards and we are exchanging homemade cookies.  The goal is to share the load (and have some fun doing it.)

The Library is also hosting a Giving Tree, put together by Dighton Cub Scout Pack 45.  Pick out a tag on the tree that indicates a specific gift picked out for a child in need.  Your purchased gift or gift card can be delivered to the Dighton Middle School; the deadline for items to dropped off is Thursday, December 15.

Of course, we hope you are able to join us for all of the Claus family activities, movie nights and our own special treat of a night with Buddy Cianci.

We wish you and yours a safe, festive and happy holiday season.

Sincerely,
The Staff of the Dighton Public Library

Buddy Cianci is Coming!
Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 PM at Dighton Middle School

He calls himself the only person who has ever been inside the White House, Windsor Castle and the federal penitentiary at Fort Dix in New Jersey. The former mayor of Providence, purveyor of marinara sauce, ongoing Prince of Providence and current radio talk show host will join us to discuss his most recent book, Politics and Pasta: How I Prosecuted Mobsters, Rebuilt a Dying City, Dined with Sinatra, Spent Five Years in a Federally Funded Gated Community, and Lived to Tell the Tale . The Library is honored to host Buddy Cianci for an evening of tales from Buddy's perspective, his time as mayor of Providence and funny stories that he admits may not have been funny at the time they happened. Copies of the book will be available for purchasing and for Buddy to sign, courtesy of Readmore Bookstore.

"Cianci tells the fascinating story of his rise to power and the profound transformation that Providence underwent under his command.... As colorful on the page as he is in person, Cianci is a natural storyteller with a lot to say."-Kirkus Reviews.

Holiday Party with Santa Claus
Saturday, December 17 at 12:30 PM
The following Saturday brings the annual holiday party with another special guest -- Santa himself! Santa will bring gifts for all who register, and the Library will provide snacks, drinks and a small craft to do together.  Register here to attend the party, or call the Library at 508-669-6421. In order for Santa to match up the right gifts with the right child, we ask that you give us the ages of all children who will be attending.
