A Reflection from The Rev. David Curtis
Practicing Resurrection
The Lord is risen! The Lord is risen indeed!
We are a resurrection people. We are a people who are redeemed and saved by a God who chooses to die for us and is raised from the dead, defeating death for all time.
Resurrection is not only about the next life; it is about this life as well. As a resurrection people, how do we practice resurrection in our lives now? Here are some suggestions:
· Invite friends and family to join you in worship. Invite people to this glorious celestial feast of bread and wine offered each week.
· Serve others. Join the All Saints Garden Ministry this year on April 25 to clean out the garden beds and plant crops to benefit the Welborne Food Pantry. Commit to spend at least $5 each month for food for the Food Pantry.
· Visit others. Reach out to those friends and family who you have not seen in a while. Go for coffee or lunch or stop by to catch up. Seek reconciliation, if needed.
· Grow spiritually. Come to Faith Formation on Sundays at 9:15am or the God Within Group on Mondays at 10:15am. Read scriptures regularly and meditate upon them.
· Join a ministry at All Saints. Become a reader, or an acolyte, or an usher. Join the Altar Guild or the choir.
· Just be. Slow down and just be with God in silence. Talk with God and let God speak to you because, at times, God is but a whisper.
However you practice resurrection this Eastertide, may you always know the risen Lord! Alleluia! Alleluia!
