Outreach Update
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our efforts of supporting Welborne's Food Pantry. They are still in need of canned goods, especially instant mashed potatoes, grape jelly, and spaghetti sauce.

All Saints is continuing to collect: Laundry detergent, dish detergent, sponges, cleaning sprays, toiletries, individual sports equipment in good condition for children and youth (i.e. basketballs, footballs soccer balls, etc), and gently used or new board games, decks of cards, arts and crafts supplies. Please leave your donations in the bins inside the preschool portico.

If you have any questions or would like to get more involved in our outreach ministry, please contact The Rev. John Hogg .
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who donated blood on Sunday. You helped the Red Cross achieve their goal of 20 units which will be used to help save up to 60 lives!
Join us on Thursday, 7:00 PM on Zoom for our first discussion of "A Joyful Noise" with the Father Charlie Dupree from St. Paul's, Richmond. Scott Hayes and Christopher Reynolds (St. Paul’s Director of Music) will host. All are welcome.

The Rev. Dr. Charles “Charlie” Dupree joined us in late August, coming all the way from Speed, North Carolina by way of Bloomington, Indiana. He and his husband, Matthew, reside in Richmond along with their cat, Francis. Charlie is an artist, graphic designer, composer, writer, and musician. He is an ardent believer in extending the warmth and radical welcome of Jesus in all that we do as a church, and that we should never stop wondering and asking questions about our faith.

The discussion will take place on Zoom,  which can be accessed by clicking here , or on Facebook live,  available on this page .  We hope you’ll join us!
Favorite Hymn Requests
Sundays during July - 10:15 AM
Christians have always been a singing people. Our singing is more than a warm-up for the sermon or a decoration for the liturgy. Indeed, Paul indicates that singing stands alongside teaching as one of the primary ways to let the word of Christ dwell in us. Our Presiding Bishop, in a recent address to the Anglican Association of Musicians – stated that “the deeper spirituality of Michael Curry, as well as whatever sublime theology there may be, has been formed and shaped by those songs of Zion; by those hymns of the people of God; by the music of the church.”

It’s important for so many reasons – yet, how can we do so when we can’t sing together? The short answer is that we’ll need to be creative, and open to experience these hymns in new ways.

Our first offering will be a time for you to request your favorite hymns!   Beginning at 10:15 AM on the Sundays of July, we’ll have a “Time of Favorite Hymns” . The soloist of the day and I will lead this time – we’ll do one verse of each requested hymn until about 10:25 AM. This will give us time for 5-6 hymns each week.

How can you request your favorite hymn?

  • Hymns from our blue Hymnal 1982 can be suggested in real time by commenting in the live stream on Facebook.
  • Some of you will have favorite hymns that aren’t in the hymnal (or maybe you’re not sure if it is or not!) Please send me the title of the hymn by noon on Saturday, and I’ll do my best to find it. You can email me here.

Don’t have a hymnal at home? No worries. There is a wonderful online resource  hymnary.org , which has documented about every hymn you can imagine. Even if you can only remember a phrase of the text, you can likely find it through the site’s powerful search engine.

Looking forward to August, we’ll take a look at how we are worshiping, and figure out a meaningful way to continue to experience the great hymns of the church. There are many creative ways to do so. However, I look forward to the time when we can be together and join our voices in worship and song!
