It feels like summer just started but with the next flip of calendar, it will be time to get those backpacks ready and lunch boxes packed because we're going Back To School!

Earlier this week, Principal Sofianos shared a new blog post with a lot of important information related to our return to school. Because this information is so important, we wanted to reiterate some of this information via the Digital Dolphin as well.

Below are some important dates as you start thinking about the 2022 - 23 school year with more traditional school days ahead!

Important Dates and Links:

  • Monday, July 25 - Student class assignments will be available in the Infinite Campus parent portal (for Grades 1-5 if your student is returning to MES) as well as on MES front door and auditorium doors at 3 PM.
  • Please note: Activation codes for Parent Portal will not be available to new students until August 1st. Class assignments will be posted at the front doors and the auditorium doors for this reason! Please email school secretary Maise Parham at [email protected] after August 1st to receive your activation code if needed.

  • Monday, July 25 - Bus Routes are projected to be posted. All available transportation information can be found on the MES Back to School Transportation Webpage.

  • Friday, July 29 - Meet & Greet at MES@Inman
  • In order to provide a more personalized Meet & Greet, we are asking families to attend the Meet & Greet at the following times by student last name:
  • A - M: 9 am - 10 am
  • N - Z: 10 am - 11 am
  • Please note that you should bring your school supplies with you to the Meet & Greet if possible.
  • A - M: 9 am - 10 am
  • N - Z: 10 am - 11 am

  • Monday, August 1 - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
  • Depending on your child, it may be appropriate for Kinder, 1st grade, an new MES parent/guardians to escort the student to the classroom on the first day.
  • If you'd like, you can join the MES Administrtors in the MES Gym at 7:50 AM for the return of Coffee and Kleenex as you send your student back to school!

  • Wednesday, August 3rd at 5pm - MES Parent Orientation!
  • This optional, virtual meeting is open to all MES parents (new and returning) to learn more about how MES is handling several issues that have been front of mind for many parents this summer. Topics will include information about the school safety plan (in light of recent tragic events in the country), ongoing pandemic mitigation approaches, and the importance of strengthening parent/teacher partnerships.
  • A zoom link to attend this session will be sent directly to MES parents via the Campus Messenger Parent Portal text and email system. This session will also be recorded for those who cannot attend.

  • Friday, August 5 at 8am - Kindergarten Parent Welcome at the MES Auditorium!
  • Please join us for this special session tailored to kindergarten parents/guardians. There will be a special visit from the teachers, as well as helpful information and lots of time for questions and answers!

  • Saturday, August 6 - Extracurricular Sign Up Opens at 9 am for grades 1 - 5 via this link.

  • Thursday, August 25 - Back to School Night (details to come)

School Day Times:
  • School Hours - 7:45 am - 2:45 pm
  • Doors Open - 7:15 am
  • School Starts/Tardy Bell - 7:45 am
  • Notify School of Change in Dismissal (via PikMyKid app) - 2:00 pm
  • Dismissal - 2:45 pm

And Don't Forget To...
  • Update your family's information in the MES Family Directory and select your child's teacher for this school year! To receive future Digital Dolphins and volunteer for roles like class parent, you will need to go in and create or reactivate your account for this school year.
  • Complete your school transportation action items, including downloading both the PikMyKid and Here Comes the Bus apps. All of the links you need are on the linked website.
  • Review the School Lunch and Breakfast information, which is all new for the 2022/2023 school year. Visit the My School Bucks page to set up your account to pay for on campus meals this school year and submit an application for free or reduced lunch if needed.
  • Make a plan for your first day of school drop off, including reviewing the "dot system" for easy navigation to the classrooms in Principal Sofianos' blog post.
  • Join the PTA - lots more info to come on how you can get involved but go ahead and solidify your membership!
