It's Time for Our Newest Dolphins to Splash In!

Every spring, MES invites our Rising Kindergarteners and their families to join us at school for our annual Dolphin Splash, which is an opportunity to meet your future classmates and see what a day at MES looks like for our students. This year's Dolphin Splash will be held on Tuesday, April 18th at MES@Inman (our current school location) from 8:00 - 11:00am, with families choosing specific 30-minute blocks to attend during registration.

Please note that advance registration for this event is required. If you have already completed APS Kindergarten registration, you should have received an invitation to register for Dolphin Splash at the email address that you supplied during registration (this email will come from the school messenger system, with a sender address of "sisdatareporting"). Families eligible to register for the event will be asked to completed a Google form for each student they have entering kindergarten, and will then have the opportunity to select a morning session time to attend the Kindergarten Splash at MES@Inman (our current school location) via SignUp Genius. During their scheduled session time, Rising K students will meet with our Kindergarten teachers to complete a brief assessment to help with classroom planning, while parents meet with school administrators and MES PTA and Foundation leadership to learn more about our MES community.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is ONLY for children that have already completed Kindergarten Registration with MES and received an email from MES inviting you to register for Dolphin Splash. Please do not forward your invitation to other families and please do not select a time slot if you have not gone through the APS registration process and completed the Google Form to register for Dolphin Splash. We will need to remove your sign-up. 

If you believe you have completed registration and have not received an email with the invitation to register for Dolphin Splash, please be sure to check your spam folders - we have heard that many of the invitations are being filtered to spam. If you are still not seeing an invitation, please reach out to our school secretary, Maise Parham, at [email protected] or at (404) 802-8950, as there may be some outstanding documents needed to finalize your students' registration.

Still need to register your Rising K student(s) for next year?

You can always register your children for Kindergarten online at any time using this link. Information about the required documentation needed for registration can be found here. Please note that you will need the following documentation in order to complete your registration:

• Student's birth certificate
• Student's social security card
• Proof of residency (including notarized Affadavit of Residency)
• Photo ID
• Immunization record (GA Form 3231)
• Ear, eye, and dental records (GA Form 3300)

Sign Up to Tour the MES East Rock Springs Campus!

If you have already completed registration, please consider signing up to tour the MES East Rock Springs campus in the coming weeks!

Wait, why does MES have two campuses?? GREAT QUESTION. Due to renovations at our permanent home on East Rock Springs, MES has been "borrowing" the former Inman Middle School building for the past three years. However, renovations are now complete and with the Inman Building set to reopen as the brand new Virginia Highlands Elementary in August, it's time for our MES dolphins to swim back home to East Rock Springs!

If you'd like to tour the newly renovated East Rock Springs campus, you can sign up for a tour via this SignUp Genius link. Please note that campus tours will begin from the front doors under the canopy at the driveway (not the doors on East Rock Springs) and will start promptly at the time listed.

Join the MES Rising K 2023/2024 Facebook Group and Mailing List!

We know that preparing a new student for kindergarten can leave you with a lot of questions, even if you already have students at MES or other schools. And we (the MES PTA, on behalf of the school administration) want to help!

One of our primary channels for communication for Rising K is a private MES Rising K Facebook group. We will be using this channel to share information over the coming months about preparing for kindergarten, life at MES, social gatherings to meet future classmates, and much, much more. Please consider joining this private group to make sure that you don't miss out on any important information related to Rising K ahead of the new school year in August!
