Rising Kindergarten Registration for the 2023/2024 School Year

We know that not everyone who receives the Digital Dolphin has an incoming kindergartener for the 2023/2024 school year. However, we want to make sure we're reaching everyone who does, so...



• If you have an incoming Morningside Elementary School (MES) kindergarten student, please read on for all the details about APS Kindergarten Round Up, joining the MES Rising K mailing list and Facebook group, and much more!
• If you don't have a rising kindergartener but do know of some neighborhood families who do, please feel free to share this information with them!

APS Kindergarten Round-Up (aka How to Register for Kindergarten at MES!)

Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year will open online on Monday, March 13th, and the annual APS Kindergarten Round-Up at MES will take place in person from Monday, March 13th through Wednesday, March 15th!

APS Kindergarten Round-Up is an opportunity for parents to register their child (or children) for kindergarten in person at their future elementary schools and take the first step towards a smoother transition to kindergarten for both the children and their families. If you would like to register your children in person during this event, please join us at MES@Inman on March 13th through 15th from 8am to 1pm. Please note that you should bring with you all the required APS Kindergarten registration materials and completed forms if you come in person to the onsite Kindergarten Round-Up registration. If you are unable to register your children in person during APS Kindergarten Round Up, you can always register your children for Kindergarten online any time after March 13th using this online registration link. 

Please note that whether you are registering in-person during Kindergarten Round-Up or online, you will need the following documentation:

• Student's birth certificate
• Student's social security card
• Proof of residency (including notarized Affadavit of Residency)
• Photo ID
• Immunization record (GA Form 3231)
• Ear, eye, and dental records (GA Form 3300)

Join the MES Rising K 2023/2024 Facebook Group and Mailing List!

We know that preparing a new student for kindergarten can leave you with a lot of questions, even if you already have students at MES or other schools. And we (the MES PTA, on behalf of the school administration) want to help!

Our two primary channels for communication for Rising K are a private MES Rising K Facebook group and a dedicated Rising K mailing list. We will be using both of these channels to share information over the coming months about preparing for kindergarten, life at MES, social gatherings to meet future classmates, and much, much more. Please consider joining one or both of these channels to make sure that you don't miss out on any important information related to Rising K ahead of the new school year in August!

Save the Dates: Rising K Playdate and Dolphin Splash!

We have two upcoming events just for our Rising K families and incoming MES Dolphins, so please keep an eye out for more information on these events soon:

Saturday March 18th - Rising K Playdate

Join us on Saturday, March 18th from 3-5pm at Noble Park for an informal opportunity to ask questions and meet some of the current MES PTA, Foundation, and GO Team members as well as fellow future MES parents and Rising Kindergarteners!

Tuesday, April 18th - MES Dolphin Splash

Please save the date for MES's annual Dolphin Splash. Join your fellow future MES Dolphins as we meet our incoming K class and parents and introduce you to Morningside Elementary! Please note that advance registration for this event is required. The event registration link will be shared with Rising K parents as they complete their kindergarten registration with APS. Families eligible to register for the event will have the opportunity to select a morning session time to attend the Kindergarten Splash at MES@Inman (our current school location). During their scheduled session time, Rising K students will meet with our Kindergarten teachers to complete a brief assessment to help with classroom planning, while parents meet with school administrators and MES PTA and Foundation leadership to learn more about our MES community.
