Amanda Sobhy Earns Sixth National Title; Douglas Claims First

World No. 5 Amanda Sobhy earned her sixth U.S. Women’s Championship title without dropping a game, while Andrew Douglas lifted the S.L. Green U.S. Men’s Championship trophy for the first time in his third final appearance Friday, April 28, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.

Douglas, who reached the finals in 2017 and 2018 as a junior and student at Penn, defeated his training partner and seven seed Spencer Lovejoy in a four-game final, and adds a new name to the S.L. Green Trophy. Sobhy lifted the Desai Family Cup without dropping a game for the second year in a row including a three-game final win against first-time finalist Olivia Fiechter. Sobhy matched Natalie Grainger’s record of six women’s national titles with her win.

Amanda Sobhy Sets up World Championship Quarterfinal Against World No. 3

Green Honored with President's Cup Following Namesake U.S. Men's Championship

Stephen L. Green was honored with the President’s Cup, US Squash’s highest annual award, following the 2023 U.S. Women’s and S.L. Green U.S. Men’s Championship finals Friday, April 28, at the Specter Center. Green presented the newly crowned national champion Andrew Douglas with the iconic S.L. Green trophy, and was introduced by close friend Richard Chin.

Delaware's First State Squash Opens New Facility

Last month, First State Squash opened its spectacular six-court facility. An array of Delaware politicians joined FSS board members, staff, parents, friends and team members to formally inaugurate the after-school youth enrichment program’s new home in Wilmington’s Riverfront District. Honored guests included Governor John Carney, Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, state Senator Darius Brown, state Representatives Franklin Cooke, Sherry Dorsey Walker and Stephanie Bolden, and City Councilwoman Michelle Harlee.
