A record eleven Americans will compete in the inaugural U.S. Open presented by Truist staged at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center, October 1-6, as the facility celebrates its Grand Opening, October 2, in Philadelphia on the campus of Drexel University.

The Platinum draws with $250,000 of equal prize money have attracted the best players in the world to inaugurate the Specter Center’s two all glass show courts. Egypt’s world No. 1 Ali Farag and world No. 2 Nouran Gohar return to defend their titles as the one and two seeds, respectively. 
Join US Squash to celebrate the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Arlen Specter US Squash Center Saturday, October 2, at 5pm ET in Philadelphia. Attend this once-in-a-lifetime celebration in person and watch the U.S. Open presented by Truist second round matches before and after the ceremony. Arrive early to support Team USA’s Olivia Blatchford Clyne at 2:15pm against Egypt’s Nadine Shahin, and stay after the ceremony to cheer on Amanda Sobhy at 7pm and Sabrina Sobhy against defending champion Nouran Gohar at 8:30pm. Those unable to attend in person are invited to join the ceremony via live stream.
Amanda Sobhy captured her first major professional title—the 2021 Oracle NetSuite Open—with a commanding three game final performance on the picturesque San Francisco Embarcadero Monday night, September 27. The world No. 6 celebrates her second Oracle NetSuite Open title after winning the inaugural women's draw in 2015.

“It's going to be interesting because you know this really takes the home tournament to all new level,” the No.4 seed said. “I live about a 15-minute walk away and I've never actually played a tournament where I I live, so it's exciting and it won't feel like a tournament, it'll feel very much at home. “For the first time I'll have truly have all my friends and family right there at the new centre where I've been training, so I'm excited to be able to play at the U.S. Open. It’s now a true home tournament for me. I think it’s amazing!”
Virginia Squash operates two public facilities, the Downtown Richmond YMCA and the Massad Family YMCA in Fredericksburg, which features four converted racquetball courts. Virginia Squash has offered public squash programming for all ages for more than a decade and will expand partnerships and reach through the Community Affiliate Network.

The Specter Center celebrated its first Women's Squash Week with a hit-n-sip on Sunday, September 19, featuring open play and clinics from local teaching professionals Alicia Rodriguez and Julie Kessler.

The focus of Women's Squash Week 2021 was to re-engage players around the country after a difficult year, introduce new players to the game and build momentum towards the 2021 U.S. Women's Team Championships (Howe Cup) held at the Specter Center, November 12-14.
