Squash Community Descends on New York City for Tournament of Champions Week

The U.S. and international squash community will descend on New York City next week for a thrilling slate of squash events headlined by the iconic J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in Grand Central Terminal, and including the College Squash Individual Championships, U.S. Century Doubles Championships, Grand Open Masters and Skill Level tournaments and ToC Women's Leadership Program, January 23-30.

The Tournament of Champions, a PSA Platinum event featuring the world's top squash professionals, returns to Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall for the twenty-seventh year. Limited tickets remain available on tocsquash.com/tickets.

Egypt's world No. 1's Ali Farag and Nouran Gohar headline the draws as the top seeds, and will face fierce competition to lift the Frank Stella-designed Tournament of Champions trophy. Team USA's world No. 4 Olivia Weaver, the tournament's four seed, and Amanda Sobhy, a two-time ToC finalist, will aim to harness the home crowd support and make title runs of their own.

College Individual Championships Set for Grand Stage in New York

The new tournament format will feature College Squash’s top players vying to play on the iconic glass court through two days of play, January 25-26, at Open Squash FiDi, culminating in the semifinals and finals in Grand Central January 27-28. Tickets for the semifinals and finals are still available.

More than 150 Players to Compete in U.S. Century Doubles Championships

The eighteenth edition of the “Tournament of the Century”, the U.S. Century Doubles Championships requiring the combined age of each team to be one hundred years or greater, will feature 150 players competing on seventy-five teams, January 24-26, in New York City. Livestreaming will be available from the University Club and Heights Casino.

This special luncheon will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Yale Club in New York City. Wendy’s remarkable 40-year career has shaped the sport of squash, mentoring generations of athletes, guiding teams to national championships and championing leadership and gender equality in athletics. The Women’s Leadership Program celebrates her incredible achievements and lasting legacy.

While the CSA Individual Championships in New York City next weekend are on everyone’s minds, several weeks of intense team competition still lie ahead, keeping the competitive fire alive as programs push toward the season’s conclusion.

This past weekend was an exciting stretch of college squash, with 53 matches taking place across the country, January 9-15. The competition brought key rivalries, thrilling matchups, and even rare west coast action, all contributing to the storylines of this season.

On the men’s side, Princeton delivered one of the biggest results of the week with a narrow 5-4 victory over Yale. The women’s side saw equally impactful shifts, with Princeton making a major statement by defeating Trinity.

MFS Boston Pro Am: Honoring Tradition and Showcasing Excellence

The MFS Boston Pro Am, one of the longest-standing events on the SDA Pro Tour, brought a weekend of thrilling squash and rich tradition to the University Club of Boston. The tournament honors the legacy of Lenny Bernheimer, a legend of the game who founded the event and ran it until his passing in 2024. The Leonard Bernheimer Cup, named in his honor, remains one of the most coveted trophies in professional doubles squash.
