The nation’s top juniors set to represent Team USA at the 2022 WSF World Junior Championships this summerthe first World Juniors held since 2019convened for its first training squad session, May 20-22, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.

The biennial World Junior Men’s Team Championship, which hasn’t been held since Team USA’s record-equalling bronze medal finish in 2018, will serve as the focal point for the event, which will follow the annual World Junior Men’s and Women’s Individual Championships, August 11-21, in Nancy, France.

Of the twelve young men and women representing Team USA, eleven are set for their World Juniors debuts with Lucie Stefanoni, the top-ranked GU19 player in the country, returning for her second tournament after her 2019 debut. Reigning junior national champions Caroline Fouts and Avi Agarwal will represent Team USA on the world stage for the first time.
Five Americans remain in Egypt following last week's PSA World Championships to contest the final Platinum event of the season, the El Gouna International Open. Amanda Sobhy will aim to back up her worlds semifinal appearance with a potential rematch with world No. 1 Nouran Gohar, while Olivia Fiechter bids to qualify for her first PSA World Tour Finals.

Beginning in 2020, US Squash has celebrated the graduating senior class by publishing personal reflections from players on their junior squash careers, and what they look forward to in their next chapter in life and squash. The first installment for 2022 of this ongoing series is available now.

 
All-American recognition celebrates junior players who have reached a pinnacle of accomplishment in junior tournament competition and high school league play. Recipients include the top four ranked players in the boys’ and girls’ U17, and the top eight ranked players in the U19 divisions and those voted on by high school leagues and coaches.
 
Days before graduating from Penn, Team USA’s Andrew Douglas made a title run as an unseeded player to win his second and largest career PSA event at the $12,000 Life Time Dallas Open Sunday, May 15, in Texas.


Team USA’s Chris Gordon made PSA World Tour history by setting the new record for the most PSA tournaments played in the men’s game with his 260th appearance at the NTA Squash Classic in Boston, May 18.


John White & Georgina Stoker continued their Mixed Doubles good fortunes together, adding their first Mixed Doubles national title to their Onwentsia Pro Mixed Doubles title last month, Sunday, May 15, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.


In accordance with the Association By-laws, ARTICLE IV, Section 1, the Association hosts an Annual Meeting of the Members. This year the meeting will be held via Zoom, June 23, at 6pm ET.



Chris Callis & Manek Mathur bolstered their end of season rankings with their fourth title in as many tournaments over the last two months, defeating top seeds James Stout & Scott Arnold in the North American Open final Monday, May 16, at the Field Club of Greenwich.

The Specter Center welcomed its first World Juniors training squad this past weekend. The weekend's training regimen utilized all areas of the Specter Center, including additional guidance from Ong Beng Hee, the Ganek Family US Squash Head National Coach, and Fitness Coach Brigita Roemer.
