Ten Americans to Compete in PSA World Championships

Ten Americans will compete on the world’s biggest stage—the 2024 CIB PSA World Championships—May 9-18, in Cairo, Egypt.

Two weeks after reaching her first career PSA Gold final in Egypt, Olivia Weaver leads the U.S. contingent as the highest seeded American in the tournament. The world No. 7 enters the top half of the draw as the eight seed, and is seeded for a quarterfinal appearance against Belgium’s four seed Nele Gilis. Weaver opens up her tournament against Egypt’s world No. 52 Haya Ali.

The six-player U.S. men’s contingent is led by Timmy Brownell, who enters his second World Championships with a new career high ranking of world No. 37. Brownell recorded a top-fifteen upset last month in the London Classic against Fares Dessouky, and will be in search of another first round upset against 2016 World Champion Karim Abdel Gawad.

Registration is now open for the 2024 WSF World Masters Championship, which is taking place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, August 15-22. Due to expected high demand for places, entry is being limited to 128 per age category.
