DHCW’s Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMPT) for 2022 – 2025 sets out our main priorities for the next three years. 


As the expert national delivery body within the NHS Wales family, providing the leadership, digital skills, infrastructure and operational services to transform health and care, our input is evident in nearly every area of healthcare.

DHCW shortlisted for prestigious BCS awards

 

Digital Health and Care Wales has been shortlisted for two 2022 UK IT Industry Awards by the BCS.


One is in the category of “Organisational Excellence, Best Place to Work in IT” – recognising organisations providing the best employment and career opportunities for IT professionals as well as demonstrating a positive commitment to diversity and inclusion.


The other, in the ‘Personal Excellence’ category, recognises the work of our Service Desk Lead Tracy Norris in developing the DHCW Service Desk which supports NHS healthcare providers in Wales.


Judges will announce the award winners later this month.


BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, promotes and supports the growing and diverse community of IT and digital professionals. It has over 60,000 members in 150 countries.

New contract supports Welsh Dental Referral Management System



Patients in Wales in need of specialist dental care will continue to track their referrals through the NHS Wales Dental Referral Management Service following a new contract between Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and the referral system provider RMS Ltd. 


The new contract – running from June 2023 to May 2027 - follows a procurement process led by DHCW in collaboration with Welsh Government, dental professionals, Public Health Wales, and Welsh health boards. 



RMS has provided clinicians using the Dental Referral Management Service with support throughout the COVID pandemic. Patients use the service to track referrals and report pathway issues. This continuity of service will enable further enhancements of the system in Wales maximising the benefits the system has to offer.

Digital Health and Care Wales is hosting a virtual recruitment open day on Friday 16 September 2022 to recruit technical leads and developers for NHS Wales’ national Microsoft 365 Centre of Excellence.


Our Microsoft 365 tenancy is amongst the largest in the UK with 130,000 users and we are looking for a team of people who will be pivotal in ensuring its ongoing support and development.

New Director of Primary, Community Care and Mental Health Digital Services announced



Digital Health and Care Wales is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Hall into the position of Director of Primary, Community Care and Mental Health Digital Services.


This new position at DHCW will be responsible for leading the strategic transformation and operational delivery of our systems and services within Primary Care, Community Care and Mental Health sectors.


Sam will be joining us from the Welsh Local Government Association where she held the position of the Chief Digital Officer for Wales, the first role of its kind in Wales. During her time with the Local Government Association, Sam has been responsible for driving innovation, change and service improvement across all 22 local authorities.

DHCW is taking part in one of the biggest health and care technology events in London on 27th – 28th of September.

 

The annual HETT (Healthcare Excellence Through Technology) show provides the digital health community with two days of networking and learning from the most influential figures across the healthcare community.


DHCW will have a stand at the event, so visit us while enjoying:

  • Engaged talks with over 200 digital health expert speakers

UWTSD and DHCW collaborate to drive change


The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) and Digital Health and Care Wales are working together to promote and deliver a culture of embracing change via a new qualification that will upskill and empower staff.


Funded by the Wales Institute for Digital Information (WIDI), The Change Ambassador Certificate has been designed for individuals aspiring to become a Change Ambassador within their organisation. It will enable participants to gain skills that can make a positive impact within their role, by understanding the principles of change in an organisation, and how to influence it.
