Digital Literacy Lab at Central Library

Open Lab for Teens, Thursdays in Summer
Join us every Thursday this summer during our Open Lab for Teens. The Digital Literacy Lab will be reserved every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. for teenagers to work on their projects.

Whether you want to create your own stop motion animation or explore the world in virtual reality, there will be something for everyone!
Social Media University: Facebook, June 11
Social Media University is a new monthly series for computer users wanting to learn more about social networking platforms. We will kick off the series with Facebook on June 11 at 10:00 a.m. in our third floor Computer Lab.

Central Library will be hosting a free workshop intended to reach out to women who are interested in learning modern Web Development on June 22-23. In this workshop, we'll take you through the process of building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails.

By the end of the day, you'll have an application that connects to a database, reads and writes data, and renders HTML in a browser.

We'll meet up Friday to install all of the software you need, and then spend Saturday learning and writing code. Programmers of all skill levels are welcome.
DIY: Digitization in Action
Want to learn more about our digitization equipment at Central Library? In this new monthly class, we do hands-on demonstrations of our VHS converter, LP converter, cassette converter, and scanners.

Join us Wednesday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. in our Digital Literacy Lab and learn how you can save your family history in updated formats.
Chiptune: 8-bit Music Making for Teens
Join us on Thursday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. for an hour of music-making for teens. We will use Little Bits and BeepBox to create ringtones and video game tunes. Our Summer Reading Program theme this year is "Libraries Rock" and we will definitely be rocking out on the 26th.
Django Girls Tulsa, July 20-21
Central Library will be hosting Django Girls Tulsa's third ever workshop on July 20-21.

If you identify as a woman, know English and have a laptop, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming.

Food will be provided. A comfort room is available for breastfeeding mothers. To join us, head on over to DjangoGirls.org/Tulsa and fill out our application today!
