Digital Main Street is Back in Halton Hills

The Town has received an additional round of funding for the Digital Main Street (DMS) Program to provide digital support service to local small businesses. The Town’s new DMS coordinator will provide personalized one-on-one support to small businesses until the end of 2023.


Eligible businesses can apply for a $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant that can be used for digital services, purchasing software, training courses, and purchasing digital hardware.


Please contact the Halton Hills DMS coordinator to review your marketing goals and determine your eligibility for the available grants and services through DMS.

Halton Hills Launches New

Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

At the June 13, 2022 Council meeting, Halton Hills adopted its new CIP designed to support main street developments, prioritize green developments, incentivize affordable housing, and encourage brownfield rehabilitation.


CIPs are a tool for municipalities to allocate funding and incentivize development for specific projects in priority areas.


Halton Hills’ CIP update process began in November 2020, with the goal to develop a modern and effective economic development tool to guide and support the Town’s economic development priorities.

Passport and Culinary Day Trips

The Town has again partnered with the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance to help grow food tourism across Halton Hills. Initiatives include the Halton Hills Great Taste of Ontario Passport featuring over 20 local restaurants, farms, cafes and breweries for both visitors and residents to explore, as well as four Halton Hills culinary day trips.

2021 Survey Results and 2022 Call for Participation

To ensure they have the latest information on business and employment activities in Halton, Halton Region engages business owners and operators to participate in an annual employment survey.


On July 13, the results of the 2021 Halton Region Employment Survey were presented to Regional Council. Results indicate that despite the continued impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses in Halton have shown resilience and adapted to the pandemic restrictions through various measures.

To participate in the 2022 Employment Survey:

  1. Take the survey online
  2. Speak to one of the employment surveyors when they contact you. Calls and emails to Halton businesses will be made Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. until September 30, 2022.

Halton Small Business Centre - Recovery Program

As part of the Halton Region Small Business Centre’s ongoing COVID-19 recovery efforts for businesses, a new one-stop 'Small Business Recovery Program' has been launched.


The program provides information and access to the many activities and support programs available through the Centre, including:


  • One-on-one consultations to evaluate cash flows, new or enhanced product or service launches, digital marketing, staffing, etc.
  • Webinars and other education and training sessions on key current topics including staffing challenges, marketing, digital skills, etc.
  • Support programs including Access to Professionals
  • Networking
  • Information on local community support organizations
  • Resources, including market research and info on competitors and prospective clients
  • COVID-19 relief programs

Regional Development Program - Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream

The Province’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream (AMIC) will provide financial support to advanced manufacturing companies with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises across Ontario. It will provide investments in:


  • Capital equipment
  • Technology adoption
  • Skills development


Applications for AMIC open on August 10, 2022, and close on September 22, 2022.

Help Shape the Secondary Plan for the Premier Gateway

The Town is undertaking a secondary plan for ‘Employ Halton Hills – Phase 2B Employment Area Integrated Planning Project’. This area is known as the Premier Gateway and comprises approximately 257 hectares of land north of Steeles Avenue, between Eighth Line and Winston Churchill Blvd.


As part of the consultation process, a survey has been developed to solicit input to develop appropriate land use designations and policies in the secondary plan.
