Acorn School Receives Funding for Outdoor Classroom

SoClean recently made a donation to Acorn School for the construction of an outdoor classroom to allow the early learning center to reopen for in-person instruction. Acorn School is a nonprofit, play-based preschool and kindergarten. The school has a strong connection to the environment and focuses on children’s social, emotional and physical development, as well as their intellectual development.

SoClean, the smart disinfection company based out of Peterborough, is committed to supporting local communities and regularly gives back to organizations through donations, collaborations and sponsorships. In addition to the cash donation, SoClean will also provide Acorn School with its newest products that can help with improving air quality and keeping everyday items fresh.

Exeter High School Teacher Wins President's Award

Exeter High School math teacher Michelle Morton-Curit said she’s always approached instructing her students with the goal of fostering a growth-based mindset. She was recently announced as a 2019 recipient of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, or PAEMST.

The honor is awarded to both elementary and secondary teachers on an annual alternating basis. The recognition is considered the nation’s highest honor for teachers of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and computer science. PAEMST recipients apply for the recognition after being nominated by a colleague. Each year, up to three mathematics teachers and science teachers per year are recommended by a state panel to receive a PAEMST. Part of the recognition includes a trip to Washington, D.C.

Children's Museum of New Hampshire to Reopen in September

The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire is excited to announce its reopening to the public in September after a nearly six-month closure due to COVID-19.

The Museum’s plan for reopening is a phased approach, and initially CMNH will open to their members only on Thursday – Saturday, September 3rd - 5th, and then to the public the following week beginning September 10th. The new schedule has the Museum open Thursday-Saturday, with two timed-ticket entry sessions each day from 9 am - 11:30am and 1pm - 3:30 pm. Maximum occupancy for each session will be capped at 50 visitors, which is 10% of CMNH’s building capacity.

New England Tutors Partners with Private Kindergarten

Kindergarten @ BVS, a new year-round private kindergarten, will bring a Reggio-inspired learning experience, with a structured yet creative program, to Barrington, NH and its surrounding communities. New England Tutors has been working closely with Donna Massucci, Owner and Director at Kindergarten @ BVS to provide support for curriculum building, teacher recruiting, special needs program design, mental health and wellness program integration as well as transition services into public or private first grade. 

The school was created with careful consideration of the ways learning methods, environmental aspects and relationships interact. With this in mind the program focuses on the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of each child and follows the guiding principles of the Reggio Emilia approach.

Tim has been an integral member of the Board of Directors for the past 6 years, and is an advocate for the Chamber within his organization. In his role as Treasurer these last 2 years, Tim’s approach has been a thorough one that has positioned the organization well for the future.
