AI Scribes Are Making a Huge Impact Across the Primary Care Sector

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping healthcare, offering smarter, faster ways to support clinicians and improve patient outcomes. One of the most immediate and impactful applications? AI-powered medical scribes. By automating documentation, AI scribes help reduce burnout, increase productivity, and improve the quality of clinical notes, freeing up valuable time for what matters most: patient care. Below, we highlight the core benefits of AI scribe adoption and share real-world insights from clinicians already seeing the difference.

Benefits of AI scribe adoption include:

  • Increased clinician productivity and efficiency: AI scribes reduce clinician time spent on manual charting and documentation activities.
  • Quicker note finalization: AI-powered notes are often ready within minutes post-consultation and allow primary care clinicians to easily edit and review the note.
  • Improved note quality: AI scribes can reliably capture details from conversations and tailor the notes to the clinician’s style and specialty nuances.
  • Decreased documentation expenses: AI scribes reduce the reliance on and need for human scribes.

Don’t just take it from us: hear from Julia Hutton, Nurse Practitioner, and Dr. Neil Naik, Family Physician, about how implementing AI scribes (with support from our team) has proven to be a game-changer in their practices.

New Case Studies Explore the Benefits of Evidence2Practice Ontario’s EMR-Integrated Tools

Clinicians across Ontario are seeing real improvements in accessing the latest evidence thanks to Evidence2Practice Ontario (E2P)’s free EMR-integrated tools. Two new case studies – focused on diabetes and mental health – highlight how these tools help bring the latest evidence directly into clinical workflows, transforming patient outcomes.

The first case study looks at how E2P’s Diabetes EMR tool is supporting clinicians in aligning their care with the latest standards by making that information available right at the point of care. The tool streamlines the screening process, helps assess glycemic targets and risk factors, and ensures patients receive timely education and resources.

The second case study focuses on the E2P Anxiety Disorders & Depression (A&D) EMR tool, which helps clinicians deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care for adults with anxiety and depression – two of the most common mental health disorders in Canada.

Dr. Z. Altaweel, a family physician in Brampton, shares how the A&D tool is supporting his comprehensive primary care practice by:

  • Enhancing medication management through built-in reference tools and encounter note generation.
  • Supporting a stepped-care approach, ensuring patients get the right level of care at the right time.
  • Facilitating early identification, standardized assessments, and timely follow-ups using validated tools like GAD-7 and PHQ-9.
