May 2019

"A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom."

-Bob Dylan

Happy Mayuary...January and May rolled into one. If you look at the calendar, you'll see we just celebrated Memorial Day and the opening of the marina. But if you looked out the window, you'd assume it was still January, and that is how it has felt lately. With low water levels and every-other-day snowstorms, the start of the 2019 boating season has felt more like the start of ski season. And believe it or not, ski season is still going strong. Currently, Breckenridge plans to stay open through June 9th and Arapahoe Basin has just extended thier season through June 16th. If you play your cards right, you can ski and boat in the same day! That's a true Colorado day!

From the Crow's Nest

Hi Everyone!

Water, water everywhere, yet 24.16 feet to go. Although this winter has delivered more than enough snowfall to fill the lake, continued cold temperatures have it sitting right where it fell. All the best information available still doesn't beat a stick placed at the water line to determine what's happening. This very scientific process over the last couple of weeks has revealed a very slow rise in water levels and as of 5/20 the lake elevation is 8,992.84' or 24.16' below full. Despite the weather, we have kept up the pace and were able to open on Friday, May 24th.

Although we cannot bargain with the indifference of Mother Nature, we can be right on her heels. Here are a few things to know;  The gangways on B,C,D and E docks are set. To get some of the docks to the 90' from shore, we had to drag them up into the mud with a front-end loader. The gangways are at a steep angle and all of us need to take care and be safe getting to your slip. The angle will flatten as water rises.

A-dock's gangway is set but it terminates on the beach for now.  As the water rises we will walk it up the beach and as soon as possible we will lift it up onto the wall next to the Tiki Bar.

F-dock has a new gangway, but it is still being fabricated in Arizona. As soon as we receive the new addition, we will assemble and install. In the meantime, you will still need to walk down the beach to access the dock.
G-dock will also require a walk down the beach to access.

This week is predicting another epic battle between Winter and Spring, but with some patience and a sense of humor we'll all be back to 9017' soon.

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!! I am looking forward to seeing all of you back at the Dillon Marina.
