Iko Ward: Well, they have definitely shut down the Marinetraffic system in the northern gulf. Three ships I purposely tracked last night heading for Basra and Khark Island have disappeared. A fourth I found heading for Khark should enter the NO SEE zone in about two hours. Why they are doing this is anyone's guess. But several transmission sites would have to be taken down in several countries who don't like one another by an international agency.
Natok: it seems pretty obvious they think we are getting TMI too much info! now you see it, now you don't

6 Factors That Influence Exchange Rates

Aside from factors such as interest rates and inflation, the exchange rate is one of the most important determinants of a country's relative level of economic health. Exchange rates play a vital role in a country's level of trade, which is critical to most every free market economy in the world. For this reason, exchange rates are among the most watched, analyzed and govern mentally manipulated economic measures. But exchange rates matter on a smaller scale as well: they impact the real return of an investor's portfolio. Here we look at some of the major forces behind exchange rate movements.
Overview
Before we look at these forces, we should sketch out how exchange rate movements affect a nation's trading relationships with other nations. A higher currency makes a country's exports more expensive and imports cheaper in foreign markets; a lower currency makes a country's exports cheaper and its imports more expensive in foreign markets. A higher exchange rate can be expected to lower the country's balance of trade, while a lower exchange rate would increase it.

Iko Ward :Guys, we are watching a way of doing business on this planet die before our eyes. This is not our fight, Ours will be in the rebuilding. Focus on that. Focus on your post RV plan and follow through. That will be the real battle.
Haystack: There are various computor tracking systems for the ships. Sometimes the ships can choose not to be logged in. That could be a reason not to always see how many or where they are.
SABickford: Haystack what is not normal is the fact that all ships north of Bahrain have gone silent. THis is NOT Normal in anyone's book...... SInce there is nothing on the map in the northern gulf, What Happened to all the Tankers, Cruise Ships, Cargo SHips, Tugs? Someone doesn't want us seeing what is going on and against Maritime Law have turned off the data feed from that area

Update: Abadi Economic Reforms
In my last news letter I brought you news of the necessity for Iraq to coordinate with the WTO and to reform the Iraqi banking system. Now we hear news of Prime Abadi
on Wednesday
participating in the Davos World Economic Summit in Switzerland and meeting with the WTO president Jim Yong Kim.
What do you think this meeting was all about?

So today I want to say one more time we will not see any significant value increase in the dinar unless certain laws and conditions are met. One of those conditions is the cleaning up of the CBI. I firmly believe that Dr Shabibi must be back in the CBI and it must be announced publicly that he is at the helm "officially" once again. From everything I am hearing from my CBI contact the USA is very angry that this has not yet already happened.
They have also sent legislative consultants to assist in streamlining the parliamentary process and so keep asking what is the hold up in passing of the few last remaining needed laws.
As far as any progress on currency reform process we all know that the USA, WTO and the IMF want the lower denominations launched, like yesterday. So where are they?
