Upstart: Thanks frank, I've had another look and here are some further thoughts.....
Yesterday, I produced a hurried message that arrived at a possible exchange rate of $5.30, based on the cost of the coins equating to the cost of gold.
The mathematical sums were based around the following values:
Street exchange rate in Iraq of 1200 IQD per $1.00
Gold price (at time of my first report) $35.30 per gram http://www.goldprice.org/
720,000 IQD per 15g / 100 IQD coin ( 720,000 / 1200 = $600 )

Desmo: Has Ray said that all we are waiting on is the Gazzette?........not being a party pooper but all we were waiting on last year was the Gazzette and that came and went.....just don't want everyone to get their hopes up and crushed again......I truly think this is really it this time but wondered if Ray had said something I missed
Lilypad: Desmos, there are articles thats the finance ministers will be paid on the 10th or 11th. . Preceding that, there was an article stating that the finance ministers would be paid immediately after posting the budget in the gazette. It may be that it is the budget is being hidden from the English version dn is in the Arabic version. Also, the taxes and tariffs go into effect on the 10th. Just saying.

The information is pouring out of Iraq and it is very informative only many do not know the news and don't really care to spread REAL news to you anyhow. All they look for is an ounce of unverified rumors to spread their hype. They are only worried about bank screen rates, talks in the mosques or planned celebrations in Baghdad.
Today I am going to talk mostly about the National Reconciliation since this is the basis and underlying foundation for just about every reform and effort being taken so far during Abadi's administration.

"Central banks are buying gold coins called gold and confirms the arrival of the 100 dinar coin" ...this new CBI announcement appears to be straight forward and is in keeping with what they said they would do four weeks ago.
At that time the CBI stated that 70% of all of the currency that is out in Iraq was being kept by individual citizens and that they (CBI) had plans to draw that currency into the banks.
Well, here it is. However, what is more amazing is what appears to be the placing of a value upon the individual dinar based upon a world accept value of gold.
If the translation is correct the CBI is stating that they are selling 15 and 25 gram coins for 100 IQD and 250 IQD. The current spot price of gold is $1,100 per ounce. 25 grams is .77 oz. .77 of $1,100 is $847. Divide $847 by the 250 IQD and you have an equal value of $3.38 per IQD.
Interesting that the CBI would offer an accepted asset of great value for a currency of less value UNLESS the value is in the process of changing.

OOTW: Twenty-four karat gold is pure Au, and is seen only in bullion bars. Gold is an extremely soft metal which loses particles if used or handled a lot, so other metals have to be added to strengthen it before it can be made into jewelry or coins (because you don't really want precious gold particles being lost by rubbing off on your skin and clothes).
You often see Olympic athletes bite their gold medals - that's because traditionally, if you could make teeth marks on the soft metal you knew it was genuine and very close to pure, even though modern Olympic medals are not solid gold. Usually you just need to add a little silver or copper to harden and toughen it.

ZTenor: Well TNT Gang....The longer I'm in this, with all I've read and studied I'm more convinced than ever that Iraq has been working feverishly to get out from under the corruption of Maliki, and they are about ready to show the world that Iraq is more than just sand to make glass with!! I'm excited because I don't think we've far to travel yet!!
ZTenor : coming out today with the 250 dinar being worth so many grams of gold which is equal to #3.22? wow! Something big is happening, and we is about to see it!!
ZTenor : Iraq was scolded for not revealing this on the 1st by IMF and WB.....I think they are running their legs off to get this out soon!
Ploganea: Bruce says that Iraq is being told to hold up. They have done everything they were to do but IMF/BIS etc had some things they wanted to do. He thinks those things were done this week.
