TLAR: This comes as no supprize. It is true that Shabibi held the rate down. In the early days after the removal of Saddam, Iraq was cash strapped for hard currency in which to pay the needs of the country. (more tlar comments below)

Baghdad / Orr News

Informed sources said that "the survival of the high price of the dollar compared to the price of the Iraqi dinar is intentional it has joined parties from inside and outside Iraq,"

Pointing out that "the reason for this policy was an auction sale currency." The sources agreed in separate comments for "Future of Iraq" that "auction policy panacea until 2008," indicating that "then turned that policy to PAL and on the national economy, especially after the global crisis hit the U.S. economy and the EU."

She stated that "drain purchasing power of the Iraqi dinar and keep it in the gutter turned into a goal after 2008 through currency auction," noting that "the issue shifted from maintaining the stability of the dinar exchange rate to increase the size of the daily demand on the U.S. dollar."

A Case for the Vietnamese Dong... Could It Outperform the Iraqi Dinar?

There's been considerable and growing interest lately in the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Supplies are low, and there very may be a good reason for this renewed interest in the official currency of Vietnam.

Could it be that one day the VND actually outperforms and brings a greater return to holders of that currency than those who hold the Iraqi Dinar (IQD)? Though such a statement at one time would be considered almost blasphemy, especially coming from Dinar Daddy, it's important we take a real look at what this "other" speculative currency is all about.

So, in the spirit of keeping an open mind and sharing potential scenarios, I'm laying out my thoughts on the subject. Take them for what they're worth, if for nothing more than food for thought...

REASON #1 (LEVERAGE): You can purchase far more VND for a dollar than you can IQD. Currently, you can purchase 1163 IQD for every $1. For the same $1, you can purchase 20,838 VND.

[devildogmom] As I gaze at the tomorrows that live in my heart's unrelenting willfulness to see a better way, I feel the warmth of a million hearts desperately seeking to fulfill their visions, like a warm summer breeze as it goes softly through trees and beyond, making our very souls tingle with the music of the leaves dancing blissfully, as if they knew that we would breathe life in and all around... wishing my dinar family a beautiful and blessed day

nolaspice] OKMama well i am so darn grounded i have grown roots - but i am at least sensible - almost to a fault - it still takes some rationing to believe the magitude of all this in my mind

[ [OKMama] redhead1 Wouldn't it be nice if we could have more first hand knowledge of exactly what down when Kuwait RV'd? They all signed non-closures so I know it's not possible - but boy, we sure could glean a lot of good information from that experience. It would probably help us all out a lot!

[redhead1] There was a news report this morning that Obama's trip to Asia is not going well and that China refuses to budge on any issues he wants to discuss - they are stronger in the market than the US and want to keep it that way.:

[OKMama] nolaspice lol You are so funny. I think I have roots too! Oh well, at least we are being reasonable.

[redhead1] OKMama - this is what I know about Kuwait - it cost $10,000 to get in on the RV minimum - my friend's sister made alot of money - they smoked everyone the day before with the announcement the king died which was not true but threw everyone off.

[OKMama] redhead1 I have heard about the rumor of the king dying and then they RV'd. Does anyone know from start to finsh how long the process was? I know it isn't exactly the same as this RV, but maybe with enough similarities it could give up some clues.

DebTarHeelGirl: TABLES-TURNING, TUESDAY - (Ecclesiastes 3:1) "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" - Your current state of events may not look immediately promising, but the tables are in the process of turning. God allows many things to happen for the purposes of our growth and our maturity. And he always lets us make our own choices. We cannot control the outcome and consequences of the choices we make! And we should not be judge and jury and condemn others, or ourselves for those choices.

We reap what we sow, good and bad. Hard pill, but it's truth. Patiently and humbly accept the truth, its freeing, and know that this too will pass! As things are uncovered and revealed, things are exposed and the healing begins. Forgive yourself, forgive others, and show love! The tables are turning, the best is yet to come! Be encouraged! God loves you, and so do I! Peace and Blessings!

The International Monetary Fund said it's considering classifying the Australian and the Canadian dollars as reserve currencies.

The two "are to be considered for inclusion" separately in the IMF's "Currency Composition of Official Foreign-Exchange Reserves" data, the Washington-based lender said in a report published on Nov. 14. They've previously been included in an "other currencies" category in the COFER reports.

The Australian and Canadian economies have been much more stable than the top economies in the post-financial-crisis era

The IMF plan comes as Australia and Canada have shown more signs of stability in the fallout of the 2008 financial crisis than the world's biggest developed economies. While the U.S., to the U.K. to Japan have been coping with increasing debt loads, deficits in Canada and Australia are forecast to be below 5% of gross domestic product in 2012 and are expected to shrink.

The Republic of Costa Rica is about the size of Vermont and New Hampshire and is located just north of Panama in Central America, according to the U.S. Department of State. Costa Rica is in the tropical region, and is a democratic country with abundant wildlife and activities. Living in Costa Rica has both drawbacks and favorable aspects, and the transition can be a challenge.
