Kurdish oil rift with Baghdad - not just a case of economy but political leverage and autonomy
This is a very well written editorial about the situation that exists between the Kurds and Baghdad....it wants to portray the Kurds as being in the driver's seat of the negotiations.....and yes they can be....but in their great list of wants and desires....they have to remember one thing.....they remain a part of Iraq....Iraq the nation....the country......
within that country exists a constitution that is upheld between all borders and inclusive of all regions, provinces, towns, and cities. Kurdistan happens to fall within the scope of that constitution and for all their wants and desires, they must comply with all parts of the constitution not just those bits and pieces they feel compelled to comply with.
Maliki is wrong in doing what he is doing by slowly strangling the Kurds in the manner he is doing....IMO.....this is but another cowardly gesture by M.....his modus operandi for what he can do when things don't go his way....the natural way of a dictator....that doesn't mean he feels compelled to stop this action either.

United States of America and the Republic of Iraq Announce Progress on Entry into Force of Trade and Investment Framework Agreement Another "framework" document is likely to be set in place with Iraq later this year....one that has been written since 2005 that will provide for a permanent forum for high level discussions of trade and economic issues that would include services, transparency (like our current administration would recognize transparency), worker rights and intellectual properties.
A proposal for the establishment of a supreme body concerned with banks Finance Committee has proposed a new law that would establish an independent supreme body of the Iraqi banking sector that would monitor banking work.....at least one member of the Committee believes the existing system is backward and needs to be modernized. In the meantime the government is expected to speed up the Bank Deposits Protection Act and get that to Parliament before the end of the current session....good luck in doing that. ....

Another article says, buy food, water, ammo and guns because the banks will close and you may need supplies for up to several weeks to months and Marshal Law may go into affect. WHICH IS IT ???
