Economic    The End of OPEC

And the Coming SDR Commodities Exchange      By JC Collins

Oil

There have been two important factors in the world of geopolitics which have been on a collision course since the early 1970s.  These two run away trains have built up so much momentum that when they inevitably meet, the crash will shake the very foundations upon which the global economy is built.

Over the last few years the rumblings have been increasing at a steady and deeper pace.  The news this week of the gas deal between Russia and China, as well as the deal between the two countries banks to settle in each others domestic currencies, are both the latest and deepest evidence of this approaching collision.

MIG:

hub: I think we are in the end times for this occurrence.  iraq has had a valuable currency for hundreds of years...1955 = #2.55 per dinar...1990= $3.22, now how can the most valuable country in the world...750000000 barrels of oil known, twice as much gas, gold, diamonds, and iraq is the largest producer of food in the region, have the most worthless currency except for two or three countries

Economics 101 teaches us that they have something the world wants and is willing to pay for it...and then iraq wants f16s and apaches and cadillacs and all the other stuff the world produces...so the currency has to be valued at a world market price.

So to trade, they have to have a currency equal to the value of the countries resources...do i have to mention the yen was a wheelbarrow per gallon of milk, the dueche mark was a wheelbarrow full for a loaf of bread , the peson was six bags full for a cold beer...and all have changed...

This is coming, cannot be stopped, may not be on our time schedule but is coming as it needs to be...we are watching history happen...we are watching the rebirth of iraq and world currencies, this is history...so hang on...we are there.

Disable the official working hours on Sunday in Baghdad

The General Secretariat of the COM has declared Sunday to be a holiday in Baghdad observing the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam al-Kadhim. I believe this was also observed last year as well....interesting though how it coincides with our three day weekend as well.

Human rights activists and activists in Anbar bringing a case to the International Court of Justice to prosecute al-Maliki and behind Abu Risha

Human rights activists and attorneys are collecting data and photos of alleged genocide being practiced by Maliki's army in Anbar....their information is being handed over to the International Court of Justice and the UN to begin prosecution efforts against Maliki and others....something tells me that one shouldn't be too quick to jump on this wagon....not sure of what it is...but there needs to be more seen about this...IMO.
....

Tlar         COMMENTS - The elections are over. The coalition got approximately 190 MP'S in parliament. Maliki's party the SOL received 93 MP's.

There is a basic miss-understanding in dinarland on what these results mean. There are many that think because Maliki's block got the most votes that he won. Even in our own press here in the US many pundits say he has won a third term. He did not.

Iraq is a parliamentary system and in order for Maliki to win a third term he must get (one half plus one) meaning 165 MP'S to vote yes for him..

That means out of 328 MP'S he must get 165 to join him when parliament reconvenes in order to get a third term and that's providing the SOL even submits his name for the a nominee.

Hakim's coalition won the elections managing to put together 190 MP'S meaning they are way over (one half plus one) and no government can be formed without their approval.

TNT:

Adept1:  Possibly NO tax on currency exchanges

Just received this from a reliable source:

FYI:  This has been going around. It is true that straight currency exchanges have not been taxed in the past. Worth keeping in mind and consulting with your tax attorney when the time comes, and do not sign away any rights just because a banks suggests it.

The pivotal question is, can we prove this was not just an investment? Will a straight exchange be enough in this instance? Better be sure about your professional advice and get more than one opinion.

With the world's eyes focused on the recent Iraqi elections, little attention is being paid to the major changes taking place in Iraq's banking and finance industry.

The ISX is also assisting the Erbil Stock Exchange (ESX), the first exchange in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, in setting up its Nasdaq trading system.

It is due to be fully implemented in July, and the ESX hopes to see around five to 10 listings by the end of 2014, including a major telecom company. The ESX has $8 million in initial capitalization and 56 shareholders, primarily from the private sector.hanges taking place in Iraq's banking and finance industry.

                             {Full Article & Link Below Tlar's Comments}

Tlar        This article is interesting for two reasons.

The first reason is that when Shabibi stated in January 2010 that he was going to delete the zeros and re-denominate the currency before the end of the year, shortly after that the ISX announced they would be an international exchange by October of the same year.

Welcome Wednesday Night News Time With Millionday

[millionday] we have some very very encouraging news to look at  -- good to see everyone

[millionday] here we go  --  With the world's eyes focused on the recent general elections in Iraq, little attention is being paid to the major changes taking place in Iraq's banking and finance industry.

As part of an effort to liberalize the economy, in the first three months of 2014, the Iraqi Central Bank granted approval of 15 Arab and international banks to open branches in Baghdad, with additional branches expected to open soon.

There is also a notable drive to grow and promote the stock markets, with senior Iraqi government officials and representatives from the country's two stock exchanges hosting a two-day forum in Dubai May 14-15 in a bid to court regional investors.

MarkZ] Hi gang. All is good, it has been a VERY busy day getting caught up. I can't stay long because my eyelids will not stay open....

The news today has been everything from good to bizzare. Nothing seems to have changed though.

We look to be right on track and moving along. I will be in during the day tomorrow to catch up with everyone. Tonight I need some sleep and I still have MANY calls to return this evening and in the morning so I am going to get on with it.

If I have any energy left when I finish I will pop in but I highly doubt you will see me before tomorrow. :) xoxo

[bailey2..] MarkZ hi hon
