Here is the main piece I will use tomorrow (sometime later in the day) - along with commentary...

Will secular parties gain upper hand in Iraq?

bgg says(): NAJAF, Iraq - Islamist parties have dominated the Iraqi political scene since the first elections in 2005 after the fall of Saddam Hussein. As a reaction to their long history of being repressed under Saddam's regime - a repression that included leftist and liberal currents - those parties gained more support.

It's time for some serious dialogue with Iran about Iraq. The chaos in Baghdad, culminating in the temporary occupation of the parliament by followers of Shiite Islamist cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, is undermining the war against the Islamic State, weakening Iraq's economy, and accelerating the country's disintegration.

Without cooperation between the United States, Iran and Iraq's top Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Sistani, the crisis could very well lead to the collapse of the entire political system set up in Iraq during the temporary U.S. occupation. And that in turn could open the door to permanent occupation by the Islamic State and other violent anti-U.S. terrorist organizations.

Bits and Pieces in Dinarland Early Wednesday Evening 5-4-16

WSOMN:

DinarDiva:  Anyone what is the reasoning behind Dr. Clark's prediction of September what is he back it up with?  Also buy him saying the dong is going to riise. Significantly that could mean 1/10 of a penny increase

Evenstar:  Dinar diva....My take on Dr. Clarke...he said on Monday that they decided to significantly raise the value of the Dong in 10 days...today he posts that VND article...and underneath he says to IRAQ- SEPTEMBER??  Could he be hinting  the Dong is going first in a week now...and Iraq snt going until Sept?? I dont know???

Lontng8:  so one goes then months later another - double dipping here i come

Evenstar:  IMO nothing has been logical about this whole GCR.....maybe China is pushing the Dong to go now because they are tired of waiting??? I have no idea?

Firms adapt to anti-dollar drive

Tuesday, 05/03/2016, 08:57

Domestic firms have taken the first measures in an effort to adapt to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)'s new regulation on tightening foreign currency credit.

Under Circular 24/2015/TT-NHNN, commercial banks are no longer allowed to provide lending in foreign currency to firms which do not need it for offshore payments since March 31 this year. The tightening in foreign currency credit is aimed to step up the central bank's anti-dollarisation drive.

SBV said that the new regulation affects only those firms which often obtain foreign currency loans from banks and will later convert them into dong to fund their domestic production.

Pdids:  When I did have a moment to to read Frank's notes from the CC of Monday nite.
I do have a question for help from any of our Newshounds or family members.

Frank stated in those notes " that a few days ago the IMF said they are going to conclude everything with Iraq in the Month of May."  Can someone be so kind as to post that particular article that Frank was referring to ?

It would be so much appreciated.   Thank you again.

P ost from TNT: THE SACRED INITIATION

The process of remembering your path.

As you grew up, did you know that there was to be something special about your life, that you were born for some important reason?

Did it feel like it might be "greatness" and despite all the obstacles put in your way, did you stay focused on the hope that you were right?

Were you touched with moments of Divine Inspiration that kept you motivated enough to keep going.

Do you remember the day that someone told you about the Iraqi currency? Is it a moment frozen in time? Can you remember all the specifics?

Reshuffle Thread  OOTW:  this outlines what's coming as things stand now

When it comes to Iraq, the world's attention has largely focused on the military campaign to uproot the Islamic State from its strongholds in Anbar province and Mosul. But the most consequential fight for the country's future may be playing out in Baghdad's Green Zone, not with bullets and bombs, but amid an unanswered cry for political reform to a deeply dysfunctional and sectarian state.

The Obama administration's plan to defeat the Islamic State relies in part on maintaining a reliable political partner in the form of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who has so far struggled against vested interests to push through his plans to overhaul the government and fix what is widely decried as a sectarian free-for-all among Iraqi politicians.

"The fact that we've had a reliable partner in Prime Minister Abadi has been one of the reasons I think the [military] campaign has made the progress it has in the last few months," Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Foreign Policy while en route to Stuttgart, Germany.
