Iraq makes political and economic progress

USA TODAY reporter Jim Michaels elaborates on life in Iraq six months after U.S. combat troops left.

VIDEO is just over four minutes long

[generals64] Now, the Bank (Wells Fargo) has told us that the Cash in group of Generals64 and Studley will have the highest rate available....There was a person that said the negotiators were getting 10% of the dinar cashed in...He only got a piece of the conversation...So, listen right now closely for the TRUTH....READY????

generals64] When we got Studley for a negotiator we had a short and very complete discussion of what we expected...And, We asked him to try and get an extra 10% above the stated rate for this group. We told him to get it from the Banks Spread. He agreed....and that is where the 10% number came from...So, if you are in our group and you follow that other person then YOU are the one getting the extra 10% not him....Think about it....And, if you want to ask me a question and see me here YOU KNOW I'll do my best to answer it...

[generals64] The Generals64/Studley group is open to anyone who is wanting to be in the negotiated group. You are not charged anything (but a toaster for me and milk bones for Roscoe lol). We felt that a leverage of More people with more dinar would help all of us. I have always thought it would be only fair if everyone were to be treated the same....Now, QUIT asking about Bank Packages as there ABSOLUTELY are NO Bank Packages. All they have is the every day package available to everyone. EVERYONE. ....

[BWM] HERE'S MY PROBLEM WITH SOME APPOINTED PROVIDERS: HERE IS THE STATEMENT THEY POSTED...Logistics is the holdup ... Not Obama, Not Maliki, or anyone else. Once they have all systems in line, we will be going to the bank.

THEN, THEY TURN AROUND AND SAY THIS...It has been estimated by reliable sources that at this point and time, every day that it does not happen, the ending rate will be increased by 85 cents. If you put that into real numbers, that would be $850,000 for every million dinar you have.

Good morning all. There is so much news to see out there but what of this news is really what we NEED to be looking at as to apply in our search? What does some of this stuff mean to our position in this investment?

There are tons of possibilities but not all of the things we are afforded is truly valid and helpful as to what we seek. Answers that we can grab ahold of and recognize.

The economy. No I am not referring to the world economy but that of Iraq. No again I am not necessarily referring to the "street" economy but that definately is a part. By that I mean we are not so concerned as to the actual economy on the streets of Iraq as that info does us no good in our quest.

(Per Freeway Bill-The corrected extra rate accumulating for Dinar Holders for each day delayed is .085 not .85)

Freeway Bill from 6-9-12:
Another day, another 85 cents .... It is all good!

It has been estimated by reliable sources that at this point and time, every day that it does not happen, the ending rate will be increased by 85 cents.  If you put that into real numbers, that would be  $850,000 for every million dinar you have.  That is not a bad fee for the torment and misery so many are going through.  However, at this point, I am sure that almost all would gladly forgo the profiting period to just get this over with.

Folks, you know that I sit back and watch to make sure that you are not being fed a bunch of BS that will get you stressed for no reason.  When that occurs, I come out of hibernation and try to cleanse the entire process of waiting.

Jun 11 11:37 PM [BGG] Listen gang - I been saying it for a while now. You just don't get how bad off Maliki really is right now. There is consideration in his own party of either an attempted military take-over or having Maliki resign and someone from the Dawa internal party take-over. It's really bad for him. This will get all over DC as well.

Jun 11 11:37 PM [BGG] Things are moving along just fine. It might have been easier if Maliki or Talibani or anyone would have stood up and done the right thing - but, Oh Well...

Jun 11 11:37 PM [BGG] I'm thinking Talibani could foresee this "crazy" coming...
Won't matter soon - they'll have a solution soon.

Share of banking services per capita in Iraq is low, says Central Bank
11/06/2012 11:51

BAGHDAD (AKnews): The Iraqi Central Bank (ICB) stated today that the country is suffering from a low share per capita of banking services at an average of one bank per 40,000 people.

The ICB added that this is a big difference from what is found in neighboring countries, where every 10,000 people have a branch.

The deputy governor of the bank Muzher Mohammed Saleh said: "Increasing the number of bank branches in Iraq is a double-edged sword. The opening of any bank should be coupled with an increase of capital, because no increase in capital may lead to dependence on the deposits of citizens and this is risky.

Foes of Iraq's Maliki cannot force confidence vote
11 June, 2012

BAGHDAD: Opponents of Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki failed to gather enough support for a no-confidence vote against the Shia leader, keeping the government in a slow-burning crisis over power-sharing among Sunni, Shia and Kurdish blocs.

A successful ballot would have been the most serious challenge to Maliki in his six years in office, potentially sinking the government and escalating sectarian tensions in a country still pulling back from years of war.

Iraq's President Jalal Talabani, a veteran Kurdish leader who has urged conciliation, said late on Saturday that Maliki's critics had failed to collect enough signatures from lawmakers to convince him to ask parliament for a vote of no confidence. Talabani had asked for the petition as proof Maliki's foes had support before he would send a letter to the legislature asking for a ballot. Under the constitution, more than half of Iraq's 325 lawmakers must vote against Maliki to force him out.
